We Are Back At It Again In Full Force

We are back at it again in full force.

Yes, we admit that we were away for a little bit (serving just existing clients) while we were in the midst of moving across States from Colorado to Florida.

If you have ever moved (especially over long distance) you’ll recognize this is a lot of work. It takes a bit to go through first the sale process and get your house sold, pack it all down, move it, find your new house and then the purchase process and then actually move in and get settled.

It took us a bit longer than I anticipated, but we are now back in full force and ready to take on new clients and new challenges. We have moved to the small town of Jupiter in South Florida. The town has great ambiance, life and nice people and a number of local businesses.

As always, I wish to connect with a lot of the locals and the local businesses, hopefully gain a few new clients, but also just to extend my reach and network and meet more awesome people.

So in the weeks to come, I will be deeply engaged in reaching out to people, businesses and organizations. If you are among these here for the local area, you might also be hearing from me soon. If it takes too long or if I by some chance overlook you, then I’m of course still interested and my absent outreach is no sign of dis-interest. So if that be the case, be sure to drop me a line of call me up – I would love to hear from you.

We have just entered a new year, so I can hardly think of a better way to get started than by putting in full force and renewed energy in our business and not less in helping more businesses and professionals grow their revenues, outreach and not least profits, by ensuring their online presence is set up for success and not there, but with no traffic or response.

With this, allow me to wish you all a Happy New Year and a Prosperous 2016.

Now, let’s get started.

5 Star Ratings and Reviews - Reputation Marketing with Amazing Ideas Inc

The Power And Importance Of Online Reviews

Online reviews are getting increasingly important and play an increasingly bigger role in the consumers ‘ decision making process.

According to eTailing Group 92% of Internet users read product reviews and 89% of people say that reviews influence their purchasing decision.

This find is supported by a Bright Local 2014 study that found that almost 9 out of 10 consumers have looked at reviews in the last 12 months to help them make a decision on a local business and furthermore that 4 out of 10 consumers do so as a regular action. The same study also revealed that “67% of consumers say that they read up to 6 reviews when researching a buying decision (vs. 77% in 2013) and that 85% of consumers say they read up to 10 reviews (vs. 92% in 2013), in addition 7% of consumers say they read 20+ reviews (vs. 2% in 2013)”. In other words, a business really needs to have at least 6-10 reviews and that these reviews are predominantly great and have a high rating such as 4 or preferably 5 stars.

A 2013 study conducted by Dimensional Research also confirms it stating that “90% of online customers were influenced into buying a product or using a service based on their reading of positive reviews. Of the 1,046 respondents, up to 86% said a negative review would influence their decision. The study also demonstrated the effect of social media platforms on reviewing, with the most popular site for positive reviews being Facebook. The most common place to find negative reviews was revealed to be online review sites.

The online realm has made is possible for all to post, write and share their opinion about pretty much anything for all to see and the many different review and consumer sites including the social media platforms makes it all even more visible to the world.

Since according to the Bright Local survey 70% of Consumers Trust A Business With A Minimum of 6 Reviews as you conduct your business you will actually want to inspire your customers to post reviews on your business encouraging them of course that such reviews are positive. No reviews and many consumers just don’t trust you. Too many bad reviews and you can guess how that will affect your business.

If you have a business that provides a fairly identical service as two other businesses and you show up in an online search result together. If you have an average rating of say 3.5 stars, one of the other competitors has no reviews and the the second competitor has an average rating of 4,7 stars. Who do you believe the consumer is likely to call? A difference of 1 star rating could spell a difference in many thousands of dollars for your business. Amazon was perhaps one of the first places to incorporate reviews on their site and the impact was substantial leading to much more sales for books that had many positive reviews. Likewise Google has shown that those links that come with highest ratings (along with high number of reviews) receive more clicks than those with poorer ratings (and lower numbers of reviews).

A difference of ONE star in an online review profile can lead to a 5-9% difference in revenues. (Harvard Business Review)

and

Yelp Study Shows Extra Half-Star Nets Restaurants 19% More Reservations (Huffington Post)

The numbers are important too. The more reviews the better, as long as the reviews are good. If two businesses have good and similar star rating, but one business has only say 12 reviews and the other has 167 reviews, then most consumers will go for the business with the most reviews.

It’s OK that a few reviews are not top ratings. Even a 1 star review or just 2 or 3 star reviews can be OK for a business to have, as long as the overwhelming indication judging from reviews are 4 or 5 stars. The lesser star reviews adds to the credibility of the collective impression of the reviews. Hardly anybody buys into a review system, if all reviews are 5 stars. If you serve a lot of customers, chances are that one or more of them will have a bad experience and will rate your business accordingly. But if the ratings are mixed with different amounts of stars and the overwhelming amount of reviews are 4 and 5 stars, then your business will soon appear worthy of consumers spending.

You are building your reputation every day you are doing business. Conduct your business well, deliver great service, awesome quality and treat your customers well, and you will build a great reputation. On the flip side of that, you are really just one review away from a bad reputation and recency of reviews matter too, so basically you are never off the hook, but are continuously monitored by consumers and customers.

I take it as granted that you wish to build a great business and do well by your customers, so as mentioned as you build your business and your reputation you may want to instill and encourage your customers to give reviews. Do it right and you will have many reviews that have a high star rating average.

It is important that you keep monitoring your reputation, the ratings and reviews that people might give your business on various consumer oriented sites and elsewhere such as on various social media platforms. Address the negative reviews. Reach out to the customer who had a bad experience and see if you can do right by the customer. Perhaps it might even turn the negative review into a positive. Also as you receive a negative review, be sure to evaluate and review your service, product, quality, whatever was the cause of the negative experience. Make sure that it’s not an ongoing issue and that perhaps it was just a mishap or a glitch. If indeed you find that you do have a challenge in your delivery, service, quality or other standards, implement causes of action to correct it, so future customers can receive a positive experience.

Once you then have great and positive reviews and ratings, the Reputation Marketing comes into play to leverage these. Basically, you will want to emphasize the positive reviews and the positive ratings and comments that your customers have given your business. This is where we at Amazing Ideas, Inc. can help. We can basically make use of all the high star ratings and the raving reviews you have and market these so they become even more dominant and visible in online searches and in awareness of customers, present and future.

It also means that a seriously bad review could be overpowered and not appear so prominently any more. A seriously bad review could of course be a real one, but it could also be a disgruntled employee, a competitor or a troll or someone who just had a seriously bad day. Someone who is just out to cause your business harm. You never really know. While I suggest to you all reviews seriously and act accordingly, you don’t want a very bad review to be the first thing a potential customer sees. When we highlight your best reviews and highest star ratings, you will have a solid chance that that’s what your next potential customer will see instead.

We do not recommend nor engage in fake reviews. No, we use the real reviews you have received. We take the best ones and we ensure they get seen to greater extend and that they appear more in search results and higher in the ranking of the search engines. It’s basically about showing off your best sides and in such a way that this is what will prevail mostly in search results and along with first impressions.

We make this happen by combining your real and high star rated reviews with the power of video marketing, authority building, search engine optimization, syndication and a few other elements that all come together in one professional package.

You can call now (888-988-2489) or send us an email (info@amazingideasinc.com) to discuss how we can help you not only get a high search engine ranking, but also that this high ranking, the first impression, is an awesome one. It’s very convincing for a potential customer indeed, when they see your result pop up along with a 5 star ranking and review.

The Bright Local survey showed that 88% of consumers say they trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations. In other words, we believe in the reviews almost to the extend that we would had it come fro a trusted friend or relative. Imagine if one of the first things your next potential customer saw, was a high star rating and review that was overwhelmingly convincing. Do you think he or she would call you right away?

Here’s part of what Wikipedia writes on the subject of Reputation Marketing: “Increasing numbers of review websites such as Yelp, are gaining credibility and influence over consumer purchasing decisions. This has attracted the attention of Harvard Business School which conducted a study of online reviews and their effects on restaurants. The study found that a one star increase in Yelp rating led to a 5-7% increase in restaurant revenue, which was a major impact on local restaurants and very little on big chains. A similar study done at UC Berkeley reports that a half star improvement on a five star rating could make it 30-49% more likely that a restaurant will sell out its evening seats.”

At Amazing Ideas, Inc. we can help you rank high in the search engines along with your 5 star rated review prominently featured. Hardly anything else is more convincing to a potential new customer than that. You be sure to receive more clicks and more business. Call 888-988-2489 Now to discuss or send us an email to info@amazingideasinc.com.

Market Your Reputation

We Buy From People We Know Like And Trust

That’s right. When we buy, we buy from people we know like and trust.

That’s why among other things we here at Amazing Ideas, Inc. keep bringing you phenomenal marketing insights in the form of article series on specific topics that we know can bring you results in your business if indeed you incorporate some of the ideas into your marketing efforts (or for that matter hire us to help you accomplish it).

We bring these insights so that we can add value to you and to your business and over the course of time (see also the article series on 3 Things Your Website Must Do). Then when you have gained one great tidbit after another of great value, you not only will have gotten to know us a bit, but hopefully also gotten to like us a bit.

In addition, since we just keep pouring out to you these great insights – many of which we have gained through long study and expensive experience of trial and errors or seminars – and since we have made them completely freely available to you, you may also begin to trust us a bit. Trust us that we are here to add real value and real insights to you and that we only wish to make use of things that we know actually work.

In other words, when it comes to hiring us to help you with marketing, by then you should feel fairly confident, that while we do charge for our services, we will recommend only elements, services and solutions that we know will bring you a high return on your marketing investment.

Yes, indeed we do want you to buy our services, products and solutions at some point and the articles series are designed to help your decision making easier and not least put you at ease with the fact that when you buy from us, you can be sure of receiving value and obtain results.

When we talk about Reputation Marketing we are talking basically about the same thing. When we are going to buy something – almost whatever that may be – we feel more comfortable when we buy a product or service that has come highly recommend or that is sold by someone that has been recommended to us.

Preferably, we would like whoever makes the recommendation to be someone that we know, trust and respect, but in lack of that we will gladly accept complete strangers’ recommendations. That’s why social proof is so important too. Social proof is when we e.g. can see that lots of other people have bought it (we see lots of others have “Liked” a page on Facebook or a website, or that we can see from a long string of comments that lots of others have positive remarks about the seller or the product or service. when we see the social proof we too feel more comfortable about potentially buying from the same seller or indeed opting for that particular product or service.

This is also why sites such as Yelp can prove important and why you wish to engage in Reputation Management. We are going to cover Reputation Management in all likelihood later in a separate series to come, but there are some overlap to what we are discussing here in respect to Reputation Marketing.

Sites such as Yelp allows for people to rate a vendor. Be it a restaurant, a plumber or whatever, people can rate their experience on the site and that can help others make the right choice or at least be informed about other people’s experiences good or bad.

With Reputation Management in this regard, you want to ensure that you monitor any ratings and review that may be posted wherever they are posted. If the reviews and ratings are high, then awesome and you have done a good job. If they are poor, you had better see how you can correct it. Correct it not just for the person in concern who had a bad experience, but also look into if you have a general problem of delivery, quality or whatever the negative concern was about, and then see how you can rectify this for future sales and customer experience.

Sometimes, with a bad review, you can rectify the issue with the specific reviewer and turn he or she into a happy customer and sometimes that may actually result in an updated review that would state something about you as a vendor pulling through to ensure all was good again and thus tell an important story about you actually caring about your customers’ experiences.

Regardless of positive or negative reviews and ratings you will want to monitor these and stay on top of them. As soon as you may notice a bad review, ensure you immediately try to rectify the problem and possibly make good again with the customer. When you see a positive review or rating, well, now you actually have some interesting options for some pretty remarkable marketing avenues. These avenues are what we will cover in greater detail in this series on Reputation Marketing.

In short, with Reputation Marketing, you are actually marketing your Reputation. Of course in this respect you are marketing the positive ratings and the positive reviews.

It goes without saying then, that you must have some positive ratings or positive reviews for you to engage in such Reputation Marketing. In your efforts to doing good business, you would like to have that regardless. But what’s cool about having it, is that you can now use them purposefully and in ways that will turn highly effective for turning more ponderers into happy buying customers – and that’s what we are interested in here.

The ideas of Reputation Marketing, which we will spell out in greater detail in upcoming posts, are highly effective.

You don’t want to miss out on these, so stay tuned for more on this topic – I promise you, you are going to get some AHA moments and will want to engage in such marketing for your business. Bookmark the Reputation Marketing series to stay tuned, or better yet, sign up in the box below to ensure you don’t miss out on anything.

Web Design Case Study

Web Design Case Study: BWMG

I wanted to bring you a little case study on web design, function and online activity. I believe this example will hold many insights for you to learn from and gain perhaps some inspiration from.

The case study I’m bringing you is that of Brownie’s Marine Group. The business is that of a surface supplied air diving system manufacturer located in Fort Lauderdale.

When I commenced helping Brownie’s with their website and other online marketing activities, their website was built on a Joomla platform and looked somewhat like this:

 Case Study of Webdesign

The above image is taken from a screenshot using the WayBack Machine, so in truth the site did have a banner up atop where the logo is and that did make it look a bit more pretty. Likewise as you can see there are two images in the mid content area that do not show on this image, whereas they would have on the website back then.

There are a number of things that I wish to comment on.

First, allow me to express that I do not wish to belittle of negatively criticize anyone’s work. Negative criticism is not what this is about, but if we can look at a few design options and question the choices so that we may create better designs and not least functionality then all the better.

So let’s just dive straight in, shall we?

The first thing I noticed even back then and I questioned for myself, was the choice of background color. As you can see it is a form of Marron or Red color. Let me note that the company doesn’t really make use of red color as a means of identification. Yes, they do have a red color as part of their logo (a brighter red as you can see). Possibly that red stems from the association with dive flags or perhaps more likely, it just makes a striking pose. The background color, however, does NOT make a striking pose, if you ask me and naturally, this is a case of personal preferences, but I am certain that you see my point.

That said. If the color is not specifically related to the business or the company, then I wouldn’t choose it. The color in this case is in addition not very related to the activities of the business either. As mentioned the company manufactures diving equipment, so a more naturally choice of color scheme or color palette might have been something related to blue such as in the blue of blue oceans or blue waters. Yes, this might have been deemed too typical, too obvious or something of that nature, but yet, that would have made sense and I do believe the associations would not have hurt the performance of the presentation.

The next point that I wish to draw your attention to is back to pure functionality. This particular company offers a lot of solutions and a lot of products and services and it can sometimes be a challenge to map it out in a natural way and in a fashion that makes for easy and intuitive navigation.

If you look closely, you will note that there are actually two navigation menus.

I don’t really advice for multiple navigation menus. I believe they cause confusion and that people get lost in where to go from here.

Somewhat related to this point, is my third observation, which has to do with too many choices. To me, there’s just too much going on on this website. Too many places I can go and too much chaos that I’m lost before I even begin to make myself a better impression about what this is all about.

There are many more things, that I never really liked about the site, but I think these three are about some of the major ones and they serve well as examples of considerations you too will have to make, when you have your website done.

I should perhaps make a brief pause here and admit that I will often make use of relative extensive footer areas that holds lots of links that can whisk visitors off to tangents. If you offer few very specific services or products, you may be much better off limiting your options to a bare minimum and rather arrive at a call to action sooner. When people are getting lost in too much stuff, they’ll usually not buy. In marketing we have a saying that goes like this: The confused mind will not buy.

So in truth, I do not entire follow my own advice and my craziest example would be that of my personal ego-website at http://www.mikkelpitzner.com that probably holds the worlds largest footer (at least at time of writing this).

Towards the end of 2012, the Joomla platform and this particular website encountered certain security risks. There would be somewhat substantial work involved in fixing the security issues and in truth I pressured and convinced the company that we should migrate it to the WordPress platform. And so done. We opened up for the new website some time in January of 2013 and it looked then much as it still does at this present moment of writing this post:

Web Design Case Study

I think there are a number of things to make a note of.

First, not how I did away with the maroon colored background. I also limited the navigation to one, although it had to stretch two lines instead of what I would usually prefer; one line.

I also went for a more minimal design, that makes use of larger images and an altogether cleaner look. Naturally, I also chose to go with a true mobile responsive theme that converts nicely to the device on which you are looking at the site. Mobile phones, iPads and other tablets, laptops and desktops – the site performs nicely and is easily navigated and read. The former website was not a mobile friendly site and would have lost 60-80% of traffic this year if not fixed. See our previous series on mobile sites to learn of the importance of this.

You may also notice the text saying Learn More About Diving Made Easy, which is actually the opt in form or the sign up for our newsletter link. This link is repeated throughout all pages on the website and actually captures a number of visitors on an ongoing basis. It’s funny to  note, that for long the text actually read: We Wanted You To Know.. and that that text seems to have captured a lot more visitors to be added to the list of leads.

The company didn’t like that text, however, so we changed it. But this is a perfect example of choices that some business owners or operators may go for that are not well rooted in empirical results. The text should probably be reverted back or one should test out other text options.

In fact, you should on an ongoing basis test out options and wordings.

Critiques that I have been able to pick up from visitors and even company investors, confirmed a happiness and preference for the new site. In fairness, however, I should state that the new site has not performed well, in regards to actual online sales. I believe the predominant factor for this is that the links to the BUY NOW are actually black and thus probably do not provoke an action online, but rather lead buyers to inquire via email or phone. I believe, it should be tested out to get a more conventional and typically seen YELLOW Buy Now button and I’m sure if that was implemented, it would soon result in major improvements.

Moving on, I wish to change gear a little.

Below, you will see a long image of the website traffic from the site over the years. I have also made a few marks to some interesting events, including the time of introducing a blog to the site (was first introduced on the previous site and then carried over with the new website), the time of new website being introduced and then finally, the point in time when I stopped my activities upholding the website and more. It may be noted that there were very little (almost none) paid advertising throughout the period of time these traffic numbers encompass.

Traffic Case Study of Web DesignI think the traffic numbers tell several interesting stories.

For one, I think you can see a good effect of the blog being introduced. First off, a blog adds new material to the site. It gives a purpose to people to come back again to revisit and learn what’s new. You may notice a decline of number of pages viewed, but part of why this is, is the fact that I consolidated a lot of pages of the former site into fewer and more concentrated pages of the new site. Yes, you may see that as hurting the site statistics, but I see it as improving drastically the experience for the user.

You may also note there’s a bit of seasonality for the traffic to the site. this sis natural as it follows the seasonality of the business. In this particular case, seeing that we are talking about diving equipment, it follows the season of the weather that best allows for good diving.

Notice the improved traffic from first when blog is introduced and subsequently from when the new website is introduced. Also notice what happens when your activity suddenly ends.

I think, there are some valuable lesson here for you to take away. I hope you have enjoyed the article and love to hear from you.

I will leave you with a screenshot of the blog entry from when the new website was launched:

The Third Thing Your Website Must DO

The Third Thing Your Website Must Do

We have come to the last thing that your website must do in our series of the 3 Things Your Website Must Do and so without further ado, here’s the third thing your website must do:

SELL.

Your website must sell.

If you really want your website to be truly useful for your business, it really should sell for you too.

For many types of businesses this could be specifically that it has a virtual shopping cart and a check out system accepting some means of payment, usually by way of accepting credit cards.

If your products are products that can be shipped off easily, then this is a no-brainer. If your products are electronic and be downloaded from your website it becomes even more of a no-brainer.

“Yeah, that all very fine, but my services are service services and require my physical presence,” you may say. Or, “But I’m a dentist and I need my customers to come and sit in my chair before I can charge then.”

Well, you are right. In such instances (and of course many of our businesses are like that) then your website won’t be selling as in handling the payment part and doing the check out per se. But that doesn’t mean your website shouldn’t be selling.

You see, your website should get the customers ready to buy from you once they then come into your dentist chair or when they do call on your plumbing service.

What I mean is, that your website must do a great job at convincing the potential customer that you are the right person for the job. That you are an authority in your area of expertise and that they will be in the best of hands with you for what they need.

In other words, if your website does a good job, the potential customers will already be pre-sold on you and on your business when they call you up. That way the rest are mere the details, whereas you now no longer will need to try to convince them that they should choose you.

Stated in another way, the website already sold them on you.

There are many things that go into ensuring that potential customers get sold on you and your business via the website, but certainly one of the elements is that you need to build a trust. A trust in you being a true expert in your area or that your products or services are truly to be preferred over those of competitors.

We won’t go into all of these aspects in this post here, but will probably come back at a later point in time to do so.

For now let’s just say that achieving the pre-sold stage is an outcome from all elements of your website, including the looks and feel, how effective it works and even how well and logically its navigation is. Choice of words and images play in, and any “celebrity” status that you bring in for yourself or for the exemplification of your business play a role. When you have brought great value via the website as we discussed in the first post in this series of the 3 Things Your Website Must Do, you may be a whole lot more likely that your potential customer is already sold on you.

Via your great content and possibly via your direct response marketing and the auto-responder email series (we have already talked about these in the previous posts) you have already build a Know, Like and Trust relationship with your customer and they already by now, know that you are a true expert and an authority in your field of expertise. The customer feels safe in their choice and the rest becomes more a thing of delivering the rest.

If you have not read the previous posts you may wish to go back and do so. The first post in this particular series spoke spoke about the essential element of bring value via your website. It’s what gives true purpose to your website’s existence and it’s also what helps the potential customer get to know, like and trust you, so that when they call you, they are already ready to buy from you.

Another earlier post spoke about your ideal avatar. Your ideal client. When you know who your ideal avatar is, then many of the elements become more easily apparent for your work that needs to go into your website. For instance you will better know what vocabulary you need to be using. You will know what pain points they have and how then you can demonstrate via your content that you have the solution for them etc. etc. You can go into more details on this subject by revisiting the post The Perfect Website – Session 1 – The Place To Start

The Second Thing Your Website Must Do

The Second Thing Your Website Must Do

The second thing your website must do, is to capture the visitors coming to your page.

What I mean by that is that you need to have functionality in place on your website that captures the information of your visitor so that you now have the extra lead to communicate to in your further efforts.

You want to turn as many of the visitors to your website into leads.

There are some great tools for this available.

A very simple one, but effective one (and inexpensive) is Aweber. A more advanced and also more expensive solution is InfusionSoft. In between are several others.

You have seen these lead capture devices on many a website I’m sure, and it is the ones that says, something like “Sign Up For My Newsletter” or similar. Even more effective though these days are sign up forms that are somewhat disguised via what we in the marketing world Ethical Bribes.

With an Ethical Bribe, you actually offer the recipient or the visitor something (usually for free) in exchange for their email address (sometimes you may be asking fr more than the email address, such as the name, telephone number and more).

Often the ethical bribe is a free Ebook. A free video or video series. A free report or something. Something that is aligned with the general or specific topic area of what your website is all about. Something that the audience probably has a reasonable interest or curiosity in.

The higher the curiosity or interest they have for your free offer, the higher the likelihood of them opting in to get it and thereby giving you their email address.

At the time of writing this post, you can find on our front page of our website an ethical bribe in the form of a free report that we have called 7 Secrets To Website That Sell. Since most visitors to our site probably found us via some sort of search for marketing or online services, or heard of us via their interest for services and expertise we offer here, then the report is probably a pretty good fit. If you have something to sell or market, then you probably want to have a website (or already have one). In addition you probably want that website to deliver high performance in the form of sales for you. So a free report on secret to websites that sell, should be of reasonable interest.

The reason that your website MUST CAPTURE THE LEADS is that we all pretty much have what I call ADHD when we are online. We come to a website and even when said website is of value to us and even if we actually like the website and the people behind it etc., then we invariably never come back and even more seldom, do we bring out our credit cards just like that to purchase whatever is being offered there.

Even in the cases, when we say to ourselves something like “Oh, this site is excellent, I’ll be sure to come back for more information and perhaps even buy something from it..” then way too often we never will be coming back. As soon as we are off the site, we are off and the site is almost as good as forgotten. Getting back to the site requires conscious efforts (if we even remember how to find the site again).

Life shows up and we are distracted. Facebook comes in front of us on screen and we get sidetracked with other things – often non-important things.

That’s just the way things are.

As marketers, we need to understand that that’s just how it is and we need to put in place efforts that can help us limit the loss of potential leads.

We do this by the great value we place in front of our visitors and we do it by luring the visitor to take of ethical bribe so we now have at least their email address and now can speak to them again via emails.

We also need to understand that it takes somewhere between 7-12 times or points of touches for people to get to feel comfortable enough for them to buy from us. People lie to buy from people they know, like and trust. Building that kind of relationship can take a bit of time.

Since people often will not be coming back to your website unprovoked then we need to be able to communicate with them so we get the chance of building the relationship. Emails are a great way of getting that initial relationship going, especially when they have opted in for your ethical bribe. Once they have opted in, you now have a chance to follow up and even referencing the ethical bribe the recipient has a good chance of remembering who in fact you are.

This brings me to the quality of the ethical bribe. And yes, you’ve guessed it: The quality really needs to be great. It needs to have relevance for the visitor and it needs to be great. If the quality sucks, people are just as soon off your list again and they have unsubscribed from you. When the quality is great, you have a chance they’ll appreciate what you gave them and they might be interested in more of the information you may have for them.

Email series can then follow up and build upon that very initial relationship until a time when it seems appropriate that you can take it one step further and actually offer them something they can buy from you.

The best thing about the ethical bribe set up, is that it can be set up so that it all takes place automatically. Once set up, the bribe is in place for the visitor to snap up and the system will add their email to your “list”. The system of auto-responders will then commence the communication via emails automatically and can even send out an entire string of emails of the course of time that you feel is appropriate. Testing and tweaking it over time, and you will land at something that seems to bring decent results.

Ideally, as I mentioned above, the leads eventually will turn into some sales. We will get back to that in future posts.

I hope that you understand the importance of such a lead capture. Again you can have a wonderful site, but even when that site resonates well with your ideal client who happens to visit your site, they invariably will not be back and you might be completely off their radar, possibly even for good. If you can capture a way to continue to communicate to and with them, you will now have a chance to convert them into paying customers in due time.

Your Website Must Bring Value sm

First of 3 Things Your Website Must Do

OK, so if you followed along recently, I made a bummer. I commenced the series on the 3 Things Your Website Must Do, but in reality the posts that I presented were in fact more the 3 Questions Your Website Must Answer.

While I did set up a separate string of these posts subsequently, it might still create some confusion for which I apologize. You may call this a false start on the string.

Well, my mistake and I want to ensure you are getting what I promised. So here goes, I will commence the string on the subject of the 3 Things Your Website Must Do.

Here is the first thing your website must do:

Add Value.

That’s right.

Your website must add value to the recipient audience. If you add no value then they are not bound to hang around, share, like, make use of your ideas and certainly won’t come back for more.

When we post all these articles, posts and the series that we are, then we are at least aiming to bring you value.

You should find a lot of good value in some of these messages. In fact many of the insights I had to pay for expensively to acquire and they have been acquired over many years and from a multitude of experts and very cool people, who are highly regarded as some of the best in their fields.

Since Amazing Ideas, Inc. is a marketing agency, the ideas we bring you here are usually marketing related and since you are here, it’s probably because you have an interest in marketing or an interest in getting your business, products or services marketed somehow. In other words, there should be a fairly good fit between what we are bringing you here via our content and your interest.

As you will understand as we move along and as we will address more specifically in a future post, bringing the content can serve many, many purposes that can in fact help your website and ultimately help you sell your products, services, expertise, ideas or whatever it is that you wish to bring out there to the world.

For now and for in relation to this post, bringing value is equivalent to bringing reason to your website’s existence. In relation to marketing, if we have hopes of selling our products, services or expertise, we need to bring the market space value. More than that, we need to demonstrate that we bring value. Posts, articles, videos and similar can be great ways of demonstrating the value that you can bring.

On our website here, we add posts and articles quite a bit lately and even if we don’t sell to all visitors, there’s a good chance we have left them with value. Perhaps some key insights to what they need to do for their marketing or their website. While I would love to have all visitors pay me money, I ultimately believe it’s just good karma too to share in abundance and to share in this case the wealth of knowledge we have accumulated from our vast experience and our studies and work with other top marketing gurus.

When we share insights we also give a glimpse of the fact that we do know a thing or two about our topic area – in this case marketing , about the strategies that you need to think about in order to get the most out of your efforts. Over time, what should also be revealed and become apparent is that we are an authority in our field. And customers like to deal with authorities and experts in the field they need help with.

If you go to a dentist, you really want the dentist to be a real authority in his or her field. When you need a lawyer, you really want the lawyer to be an expert in the particular areas in which you seek out the lawyers help. If you have trouble with your car, you really want an expert mechanic to help fix the problem.

When you bring value, people quickly see why you are here, why they should listen to you and why they should consider buying from you etc.

Ultimately, if you bring no value, there really isn’t a very good reason you are here or in this case that you have a website up. You have probably once in a while been searching something online. Clicked a link and found that the content you arrived at brought no help whatsoever, nor any answers to the questions you needed answered. It might even have bothered or irritated you a little. In contrast you may then have clicked another link and all of a sudden landed on a site that gave you all the answers that you were looking for and now you are exceptionally happy.

Well, you want to make your site the site that will leave people exceptionally happy.

So you have to bring value. Again your website will not be for everyone, but within the field that your website is about, there exist an audience and you must ensure that you are bringing said audience good high value. When you do, you are also likely to end up being compensated somehow down the road, potentially even almost straight away from the purchase and dealings it will lead to with the visitors.

We will soon look at the second thing your website must do. To follow along this series, please bookmark 3 Things Your Website Must Do.

3 Questions Your Website Must Answer

The 3 Questions Your Website Must Answer

I have just finished the last post that gives you the knowledge of the 3 questions that your website must answer. I had placed these under the series of the 3 Things Your Website Must Do, but I realized that I should actually have placed it separately under the  3 Questions Your Website Must Answer

Since I don’t wish to go back and disturb any already published information and for those who may have bookmarked something, I have instead now added that extra navigation and Series Heading (good for future navigation too), while keeping also the original.

The reason that I wish to keep this series separate is that I actually do have a series coming up on the 3 Things Your Website Must Do. If you recall and if you read the very first of the posts in this series here, then you know that I actually had 2×3 things. Well, in retrospect it should as I say have been 3 Questions Your Website Must Answer and then 3 Things Your Website Must Do – that would have been the correct avenue.

Both series are actually also still sub series to The Perfect Website series – all posts that make up for what you will need to ensure that you have the perfect website and that your website will provide you with a chance of real success.

Sorry for any confusion this might have brought.

Again if you wish to review the 3 Questions That Your Website Must Answer, you can just click this link: 3 Questions That Your Website Must Answer

I also would like to make a shout out here, to a top marketer, who shared with me the importance of these 3 Questions That Your Website Must Answer. That marketer is Eben Pagan, whom I have had the pleasure of studying and working with in his workshops. Thanks for sharing these valuable insights. I am pleased to bring them forth to more people who can benefit from the knowledge.

The third question your website must answer is the question of What Do I Get?

What Do I Get?

What Do I Get?

That’s right, the question “What Do I Get?” is the third question you must answer on your website, in other words the third thing your website must do.

It is that famous “What’s In It For Me?” Question that needs to answered.

We all want to know what’s in it for me? Why should I care? What are you offering? Is it valuable for me?

Again for us here at Amazing Ideas, Inc. the reply is that you’ll find in us a marketing agency that will help your business get in front of the right hungry crowd of customers. We will help your website get found, ranked high and get to a point where it can dominate the search engine results for the relevant keywords of your industry and location. And if you truly listen to us, we will help you lead the pack to.

We will help you with capturing the visitors of your website into leads and turn the leads into friends and ultimately turn the friends into raving fan customers.

In addition we will help you get automated to the best extent possible so that your set up will work for you even when you are not. It will work for you at night when you are sound asleep and it will work for you when you are off on vacation or indeed handling other clients.

We also offer a ton of other marketing associated done for you services and strategies including, but not limited to direct response marketing, inbound marketing, search engine optimization and much, much more.

Via our website you will also learn everything that we have learned of great sound marketing that works as well as learn the key insights of lessons we have yet to learn or as things evolve. That’s right, sometimes what used to work no longer brings the right results, but is usually replaced with something new that then does. We will share with you what we learn from our business, from the results of our clients and from the best of the best within the marketing industry with whom we collaborate and study.

That’s what you will get with us.

Now, make sure you answer the same question of “What Do I Get?” for your business and on your website.

To Follow Along This Series of 3 Things Your Website Must Do, just bookmark this link: 3 Things Your Website Must Do

Actually as you will learn from our next upcoming post, the past few posts here on our website that make up our current series should probably have been entitled 3 Questions Your Website Must Answer. In light of this revelation and for the sake of future quick navigation, I will make it available under this new heading (the old heading will remain in function too, but this new title for the series would be a more correct one). In other words, if you wish later on to revisit the 3 Questions, then just go to 3 Questions Your Website Must Answer.

What is your website talking about? The 3 Things your website must do

Second Thing Your Website Must Do

Continuing our series on the 3 Things Your Website Must Do, we come to the second thing that you must ensure your website does.

This second thing is yet another question and it goes like this: “What Is It Talking About?”

You may find this is an extension of the first thing your website must do and in part it is, but there are times, when the separation between the two are bigger and where it just makes really good sense for you to stop up and ensure that you are clearly and quickly explaining to the audience, what it is that your website is talking about.

At a later point in time we will cover the point of content marketing and why this can be hugely important and hugely advantageous for you to engage in. When we are delivering content addressing the question of “What Is It Talking About?” becomes extremely relevant. So relevant in fact that I just decided that our own website here actually should spell it out specifically too. Who knows, it might also actually entice one or more people to actually sign up and follow us when we do updates and bring more stellar insights on marketing that works.

If you are new to our website here at Amazing Ideas, Inc. you may be interested to know that our posts and articles are about the various tools and steps you can utilize in creating great results for your marketing via especially your online presence.

With regular interval we are beginning new article series on specific topics that shows you how to do certain things or how to think about certain things related to your marketing. We also will be looking at tools that can help your business increase its results, leads, revenues and ultimately profits and not least how things can be set up so that most of it becomes automated and is working even when you are not.

When running a business, marketing becomes an extremely important activity. I have stated this before, that you can have the best product or service in the world, but if no-one knows about it, you won’t have much of a business out of it. What is your website about and what problems do you solve

What Is It?

Our previous entry told you to ensure that your website clearly spells out What It Is – meaning what is your website about, what do you offer, what problem do you solve.

Here at Amazing Ideas, Inc., at least currently, we hit the visitor straight away with a few important points on how people are using searches and what you need to be aware of for your website and for your business in order to stand a chance of success via your website directly or indirectly. We then quickly proceed to offer a couple of our solutions to solve the challenges that we have just outlined.

Amazing Ideas, Inc. offers a huge variety of services, but to offer all of these on the first page of our website would cause a complete overwhelm and we would probably lose many potential clients.

Instead, when you scroll down just a tad more on the first page of our website, you will see that we have a predominant focus on 4 things that actually all have to do with the main issue we raised right at the beginning.

The four things are:

1. Get Listed

2. Move Up

3. Dominate

and

4. Lead The Pack

In other words, we raised the problem or challenge of a business such as yours to get onto results with the search engines and to achieve such a great ranking that you get in way at the top. You will need to dominate the search results for what it is you offer or for the problems to which you bring solutions.

Then when you dominate here, you can move on to leading the pack.

The leading the pack part is something we will come back to more later on. It might involve showing your true leadership and leadership abilities and it could even in some instances be personifying you as a real authority. When such an authority position is taken on via personification of say YOU, then we are pretty much also talking about establishing you as more or less a celebrity in your field.

For some this celebrity status may at first feel uncomfortable or possibly weird. But you have to remember that ultimately we all like to do business with people and more so than doing buying from just faceless businesses.

Now in truth, sometimes you don’t necessarily want to present you business with you as a front figure, for it can also limit what you can do with the business later on or possibly even put too much demand on you personally rather than on the business. this is a subject matter for a different time, but just to illustrate what I mean, then imagine that down the road you wish to exit your business and retire or do something else.

In such a situation it may not be in your best interest if the entire business is solely associated with you as a person to produce the results. For that would mean that it would be difficult or challenging to transfer the perception over to someone else or just to come with the business.

When in a sale situation of a business, you would like the value of the business to be transferable to those who buy it. Not only because they should get value out of the purchase, but also because that will be the only way for you to achieve a good compensation for your business.

I mentioned that personifying it with you personally could also lead to too much demand on you. Say e.g. your business is that of plumbing services. If you are the only person who can be trusted to deliver qualifying service in your business, then as your business grows, more demand for you personally will grow too and you will be limited by the time you have available. In other words, you will limit your scalability.

Ultimately, I believe there are ways to achieve both. Way to make you as a lead figure for the business a celebrity that helps your business grow, while also making the business a celebrity and authority in its field. But these are certainly things to consider along the way. In some instances you might not have much of a choice, such as if you are a public speaker and if that is your business. Then you are IT. But could you potentially create your speaking topics into such proprietary material that people would flock to it even if it was delivered by other professional speakers? I would venture that you might be able to make it happen to some extent. This is kinda the case when you were to license out your material for instance.

I have what I endearingly call my personal ego-website. Because I do so many things, and because at lot of them are not related to each other it often becomes a challenge when I meet people at events and such that are not related to any specific of the businesses that I’m involved in. When asked the typical question: So, what do you do? Then I’m challenged for choosing an appropriate answer. So long ago I decided that I would have my personal ego website that I could basically refer people to.

The problem with the site was though, that the content of it would jump from one topic to another without any necessary other, rhyme or reason other than what I just had felt like at a certain point in time. Also the site doesn’t deliver ONE thing in particular nor try to sell ONE thing in particular (actually not really aiming to sell anything from the site at the moment, even if there is a link or two). So ordinarily this confuses people and to overcome this, I basically actually asked the three important questions on the site and provided the answers too. The questions that would help people along with what the site was all about and why it existed in the first place.

3 Things Your Website Must Do

3 Things Your Website Must Do

At the end of last post, I promised that the post would be about the first of three things that your website must do – for you and for your business.

Well, having slept on the matter I come to the conclusion that although this is in our series of The Perfect Website, we really should break it out into its own series. Why? Because these elements and insigts are so critial and vital for a successful website that you and others may wish to come back and revisit them once in a awhile, so that you can check in with these and see if you have ensured your website delivers on these.  Therefore I believe, they should be easily found again for that purpose. Also they are so important that they deserve their own little sub heading regardless of anything else.

So let’s break this out into its own headings. They will still be part of what makes for The Perfect Website and can thus be found under this series, but they will also be found under the new series of 3 Things Your Website Must Do For You.

This then leads us to the next thing. That next thing is the fact that, I will not just bring you 3 things, but in fact 2 times 3 things, so in all 6 things. They are all important as you will see.

So here we go, commencing on our new (sub-) series 3 Things Your Website Must Do:

The first thing your website needs to do lies in the question of: What Is It?

In other words, you need to answer the question about what is the website about.

For a lot of businesses this question becomes very easy to answer and also the answer becomes very clear as soon as you visit the website in question. For instance, here’s a plumber that provides plumbing services in the greater Denver area etc.

But you would be surprised how many websites actually fail at answering this question. Or at least fail at answering the question well.

Imagine for instance you are a business coach, perhaps with a keen specialty of helping with turn around businesses for the small local businesses. Imagine also that you have a prevailing expertise with certain industry of businesses, let’s say e.g. such as small manual labor providers and repair type of businesses.

If, however, you fail to clearly make it known that those are the areas you cater to and for, then you may invariably be met with inquiries from businesses of all other sorts that you cannot in fact help and you will provide a mismatch.

Even more often you will find website that even after you read through the website, you still don’t really know, what problems are being solved or what products or services are being offered.

The more clearly you can convey what your website is all about, who you are and what you offer, the more successful your website will be.

Therefore the message in this post is for you to ask yourself the question: Does my website clearly show and answer the question of: What Is It?

It’s a good exercise to take a step back and check if your website clearly demonstrates what it’s all about. Make the message as clear as possible and if it isn’t clear at all, then stop up and look at how you can rewrite your content. Really what we are talking about here is the very first page of your website on which a visitor lands. It also means that you should be able to answer the question for a visitor right at onset of the website (i.e. near the very top of the website of its very first page).

Web Design By Amazing Ideas Inc

Free Theme Or Paid Theme

When choosing your theme, you may quickly be faced with the question of whether to go for a Free theme or a premium theme that you would have to pay for.

Here are my 2 cents on that subject.

While there may be some great looking themes available for free I will suggest that you opt for a paid theme. Ordinarily speaking – at least most of those I have come by – the free themes comes with certain limitations or more often than not, come with a link to the web developer. This is usually a little link that will appear somewhere near or in the footer of your website and over which you have little or no control.

My feel is that you don’t want to have such an advertising in your footer, so choose paid themes that allow you to either change the footer or eliminate the link.

Most paid themes are actually also relatively inexpensive. So really there is not much excuse for going cheap here. If you just want a license for a single website of your own or for your business, you’ll often find a high quality theme come with a price tag of only $58 or so. Of course themes come at many different prices, but ordinarily speaking we are not talking about a great deal of money.

Some sites offer multiple theme licenses for you for a wide variety of themes. This can be a great choice if you are in need of several websites for different purposes or when you, like Amazing Ideas, Inc., may be offering web site designs for others. In my last post I offered some resources for where you can get themes. Some of these resources usually have some offer on all of their themes for a one time low price. It might be worth while considering for you.

The next post will look at the first of 3 things your website MUST do for you and for your business. These 3 things are super important and critical, so I believe you want to make sure that you follow along with the next 3 posts in this series.

How do you choose the theme for your website?

Web Design: Choosing Your Theme For Your Website

Yesterday I mentioned that you just needed two more things for really getting started with your website and yesterday we looked at one of these being the question of where to host your website and I gave you a few possible suggestions of hosting services that I’m currently using myself and have been fairly pleased with. You can read yesterday’s post here: Where Do I Host My Website?

We are in the midst of the article series on the topic of How You Create The Perfect Website.

So following up on yesterday’s post, here is the last thing that you will need in order to really get going with your website: Choosing Your Theme.

Previously we discussed the platform to be used and I stated my personal preference and suggestion for opting for WordPress. One of the powers of WordPress is the abundance of themes (i.e. looks) available for you to choose from and the relative easy with which you can change the theme of your website and with (almost) one fell swoop change the entire look and feel of your website completely.

Here are a couple of resources that I have personally used in my work at Amazing Ideas, Inc. and that I would recommend that you have a look at for yourself:

StudioPress

ThemeForest

Elegant-Themes

Theme-Junkie

Disclaimer: At the current time of writing this I have no affiliation with any of these and am in no way compensated for recommending them. These are some of the resources that I use myself and have been fairly pleased with.

A great way of sometimes finding the theme that you want is when you come across someone else’s website that you really like. If that website happens to be on a WordPress platform, then you can actually easily find out what the theme is called and where you can acquire it. To find out what WordPress theme someone is using, you can use this website: WhatWPThemeIsThat

Should the website that you like happen to be a non-WordPress platform site, then of course the above website service won’t help you much. Should that be the case, I would just suggest to go to one of the above mentioned resources and see if one of the themes offered look somewhat like the one you like.

Since there’s so many to choose from and since more and more great looking themes are entering the market on a continuous basis, you’ll be sure to find something you like.

One of the things I like so much about the whole concept of themes is that when eventually, you feel there’s a need to update the look of your website, then you can do so usually fairly easily and fairly quickly. And the change can be dramatic, completely giving your site a brand new look and feel.

I do say “usually” for I have had a few experiences that gave me a few headaches and where I had to do quite a bit of adjustments from one theme to another in order for it to look right. But in most cases you won’t be having too many difficulties when you change out a theme.

Again, in the “old” days, pretty much all websites were custom built and coded from scratch pretty much. That also meant that to change the look and feel of a site would require quite probably considerable new coding and new work, basically building a new site from scratch. With platforms such as WordPress you are so much better off and can make changes quickly and make the changes beautifully too.

Your choice of looks and feel may at times be more or less dictated by what it is you are selling and what your profession is. We talked about that a little in the post called: http://www.amazingideasinc.com/the-perfect-website-session-1-the-place-to-start/.

You may wish to revisit the considerations I provided you with there to ponder.

Upcoming Post: There are a ton of themes available out there for you. Many are Free and even more are available at a price. The upcoming post will have a quick look at whether you should save some money and go with a free theme or whether you should spend a little money to get a premium/paid theme.

Where To Host Your Website sm

Where Do I Host My Website?

In our series on The Perfect Website, we have now looked at Who It Is We Serve (our perfect avatar), What Problem We Solve, How To Dig Deeper Into Their Pain, The Need For Your Own Domain, How To Choose Your Domain Name and What Technical Platform We Should Use. We are thus making very good progress and at this point we just need one more element (actually two) to actually really get going.

This one element that we will look at briefly in this post is the simple question of where to host the website.

Before I provide a few suggestions, let me stress that what I might bring you here is based on my personal views and personal experiences. There may be better choices that I’m just not familiar with. Also there’s an option or two that I wouldn’t recommend only because I have had a so-so experience with them or quite possibly just because one or two other marketers that I trust have told me not to go that route.

When choosing your hosting service there are a number of concerns that you need to have satisfied.

In no particular order you want the hosting service to provide you with sound and decent up times. In other words you want to know that your website is up and running pretty much all the time. You would want them to provide you with a decent support just in case you’ll need their technical help once in a while.

You want to have a good back end. That means that you want to have decent tools arranged in an intuitive set up so that when you do perform functions behind the lines, such as setting up and email address, updating a theme (when sometimes this may be required via the hosting or an ftp account, that you will find it fairly easy for you to navigate around there. Believe, me, some of the hosting services have not made their back ends very approachable in my view.

Naturally there’s an element of getting used to finding your way around in a back end system, but I have found vast differences in levels of easy and intuitive from one hosting service to the next.

With your hosting service you will probably also want to have a glance at the costs and what you will be getting with that expenditure.

It can also be a good idea to check out what back up services are offered. To get a better service you may have to go for an upgrade offer, some call it a pro account and such, but the extra expense can often be well worth it, so that you can rest at ease that you valuable wok is not all of a sudden lost due to a mishap you may make at some point (yes, I have made a few mistakes once in a while that completely rendered my website off the grid).

In addition there can be several technical questions and options you may wish to dive into, but for most starts you just need the basics and you’ll be fine.

Here’s a couple of hosting services that I so far have been reasonably happy with and that I would currently recommend for you to check out:

Hostmonster

Dreamhost

Bluehost

(I am not absolutely positive, but I believe all of these 3 are in same ownership or such)

Inmotion

Disclaimer: At this point in writing I have no affiliation other than being a customer with these services, so at this point in writing I achieve no benefits or compensation from announcing them. That may change at a later point in time. However, also know that regardless of compensation or not, I will only recommend options that I have personal experience with (unless otherwise stated and in which case they would have to be recommended to me by someone I really trust and who knows them really well) and that I personally have been pleased with.

I have had some experience with Hostgator and GoDaddy and possibly one or two others, but these do not rank among my personal recommendations at this point in time.

If you find services that you really love, be sure to share these with me. But if you just want to cut to the chase and get going with your website, then I think you will be well off with one of the above recommendations.

Upcoming Post: I did say that there were actually two more things we needed to look at to really get going. I answered one above and in the next post we get to the other. That other is about the theme you will choose for your website.

To follow along this series, just bookmark The Perfect Website, or better yet, sign up using the box below to get notification of future posts in the series.

Which Platform Should I Use For My Website - The Perfect Website article series continued

Which Platform Do I Choose For My Perfect Website?

Alright, you have followed along this series on The Perfect Website and that means that by now you should have established who your ideal client is, or as we in the marketing world call it, who your ideal avatar is. Also you know specifically what problems you solve.

That means you know exactly who your audience is and how to talk to them and you know what you can solve for them and how to communicate that.

You also now have establish a great domain name, a great URL that possibly also will help you with your chances of getting a high ranking for one keyword that is important for your business.

Now comes then the time to make a decision on the subject of on which platform to house your website.

This post is not to become too technical, but by platform in this case I mean what technical platform to build your website on.

Do you go for a Drupal site, a Joomla, a WordPress or something else?

Here at Amazing Ideas, Inc. we exclusively use a WordPress platform. The reasons are many, but one of them is in fact that it is easy. It’s also a platform that thousands of people are writing code for, which means that more and more cool solutions are offered (in the form of e.g. plugins and themes). In addition what I really like, is that you can relatively easily and quickly change the look and feel of your website with a WordPress platform, just by changing out the theme you are using.

You may be able to find similar abilities and advantages on other technical platforms, but I’m pretty convinced that you are making no wrong decision by going the WordPress route.

Personally, I have had a little experience with a few other platforms. My first online website creation experience was via Apple’s own program. I cannot really remember what they called it, but I almost would think it was called iWeb (at least that seems somewhat logical following all of Apple’s i-something-programs).

I liked this program for it was so easy and that’s what I was looking for. I was not in the game to learn technical stuff at all. However, it came will many limitations among which was the lack of abilities for really optimizing for web searches.

As I have previous stated, you can have the best solution in the world for some problem, but if no one knows about it, it will do you no good (nor your target audience). If you cannot get found in search results, you are likely to get nowhere.

A further limitation is that I believe Apple subsequently killed the application off, which probably was a very sensible thing to do seeing these other platforms are so well functioning, relatively easy to grasp and use and seeing they probably each are more focused on providing such solutions, whereas Apple’s focus might have been too distracted on other products.

I have also for a brief time had some experience with the Joomla platform. Personally I found it to be cumbersome and “oldish” to work with. When the site that we worked on had to be upgraded because of security issues and concerns with the platform, we chose to build a brand new site on WordPress.

On occasion you will run into other platforms that promises easy build and drag and drop features. While I welcome ingenuity and intuitive platforms, I wish to make to sure that in the midst of things we are not losing abilities for awesome plugins en masse, as well as excellent tools for carrying out the necessary and important work of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) along the way. Platforms such as Wix and Weebly come to mind. People sometimes come and ask me; “But what about this site… and this site?” and without being a true expert of these sites, let me just say that, I have my personal doubts.

Some years back, a friend of mine got me into bike riding as a way to get fit and stay fit. I thought “great, why not?” and started looking into what bike to get.

He mentioned the brand Lightspeed which was aluminum based, but then also mentioned a few brands that were carbon based. Of course the bikes looked awesome and held promises for me to become the coolest bike rider in no time. Hmm.

I looked a bit further and before long I found that there were at least 10 or 12 very high end brands all with their own very cool bikes (expensive too). I also found that speaking with any bike sales guy or any bicyclist would result in a new opinion on what to get.

Long story short. I wanted a bike and needed to cut through the clutter. So I asked myself: “Who is the best bike rider out there?”

Well, this was probably 2004 or so and Lance Armstrong was winning one Tour De France race after the other, so I thought, “OK, Lance Armstrong must be the best”.

No concerns at this point on drug enhancement or not. That’s not the issue here, nor if indeed Lance was the best rider of them all. Point is, he was killing it and that meant he probably also was using a great bike.

I proceeded then, by asking the next question: “what bike does Lance ride?” Well, easy to find out, it was a Trek bike and at the time I entered into it was the Trek 5900 or something to that effect.

My conclusion was simple: If the Trek 5900 was good enough for Lance, it was probably good enough for me.

So off I went and bought a Trek 5900.

The power of marketing and exposure, huh?

I’m by no means a mean bike rider. In fact I get on my bike way too little, but I still enjoy having a great bike when I do venture out on it and I actually still have and use my Trek 5900.

My point is, when deciding on choices among a myriad of what seems to make for good solutions, you will often find a ton of so-called experts that each have their own opinions and recommendations about what you should go with. What I do, is to look at who is doing the best out there. Who is crushing it? Who is creating phenomenal results and who is dependable – in this case – on their web platform to be working and function able at all times?

When I looked around almost all that I found, who really depended on the web platform and web presence, were using the platform WordPress. If it was good enough for them, it would probably be good enough for me too.

Those who were not using WordPress typically had some custom made platform.

But custom made, while it can be powerful – also renders you in need of specialized knowledge and expertise to keep running. Want an upgrade to it and now you are more than likely suck facing yet another expense on developers and coders. So custom is not the route to go in my opinion.

So without mocking any other platform, let me just say, that I personally see no point in investigating (at least at this point in time) any other platform than WordPress. Indeed, if I get involved with a client that demands another platform to be used, I will either outsource that work or tell the client that we are not a good fit.

Truly, I don’t believe there is some need a client might have in these regards that can not be satisfied via the WordPress platform, so instead of thinning down our expertise, we will rather want to stick to this platform and thereby only get better and better and even more savvy than we currently are.

My conclusion and recommendation is thus simple: Just go with the WordPress platform and you’ll be fine. Could this recommendation change later on? Possibly, but I don’t foresee this for any foreseeable future.

The importance of choosing the words that make up your URL

Choosing Your Domain

Choosing Your Domain

Continuing our series on creating The Perfect Website, we are moving forward and are coming to three further considerations you will need to make decisions on: Choosing your domain (name), which platform to make use of and where to host your website. In this post we will look at the importance of choosing your domain.

The domain name. It’s the URL – the ‘what comes after the www.’

This instantly leads to the question of having your own domain or using the domains of publicly accessible hosters like WordPress.com or something similar.

In my view there’s no doubt about that you want to have your OWN domain. No doubt and it doesn’t matter really what your website will be about.

By having your own domain you are ultimately in complete (or close to it) control of what you can do with it.

Also by having your own domain you can possibly get a unique or well descriptive name of your choice. I say possibly for it seems often difficult to get the domain names you want, because someone as smart of you already thought of the same domain name and now has it (let alone all the domains that seem to be purchased just for the sake of selling them back at a hefty premium).

If you were to host on WordPress.com, you might be able to get a name like (using us an example) www.amazingideasinc.wordpress.com but this is not as good as www.amazingideasinc.com is it?

Not only does a URL become even longer than might otherwise be the case, but you also typically run into limitations as to what you can do on your domain. There might be a cool solution with what’s called a plugin that you may not be allowed to use on a domain like WordPress.com or similar.

I also feel like it’s somewhat unprofessional to host anywhere else but on your own domain. In addition to getting your own domain, you also get the ability to establish email accounts with your own domain too.

Just like we have info@amazingideasinc.com – it just looks better than a amazingideasinc@hotmail.com or something along those lines. It makes you look more established and more like a real place of business. In other words it may even help you look more legitimate and trustworthy.

My views are not to mock these sites where you can get free hosting like WordPress.com and similar, for in fact I think it’s awesome that they even make it available and they are in fact very good sites and platforms. So if you absolutely didn’t have any money to make good for, then a website on such a platform would probably help you along fine and better than no website at all.

But in truth, having your own domain is a very small investment (a URl is typically less than $12 a year at time of writing this and sometimes you may even find better offers than that). A hosting can be anywhere from about $4 to $20 a month for decent and reliable service providers and then of course the price can go up depending on what more demands you might place with them or as you grow your needs.

OK, so so far, get your own domain!

Like I said, getting your own domain can be a challenge in terms of getting the URL you would really want. But play around with it and you may find something that is very useful and that makes sense for your website and your business.

I would have liked a more generic www.amazingideas.com rather than a www.amazingideasinc.com, but www.amazingideas.com was taken (actually at this point in time it looks like one of those domains that are just parked waiting to be sold at a premium, and quite frankly, it doesn’t mean enough for me to buy it at a premium – some are within a decent budget, while others are extremely expensive).

But if say your business has a very unique name, perhaps even one, that doesn’t mean anything, but just has a cool sound, you may be in luck that it’s available for you.

You may, however wish to look for something that’s descriptive of what it is you are selling. Taking this a step further and you could add your location too.

I’m currently based and located in Castle Rock, CO, so if I was a plumber, I might want to see if www.castlerockplumbing.com or www.castlerockplumber.com would be available or something to that effect.

If you can get a domain name that is descriptive for what it is that you are selling, it could even help you get a decent search engine ranking too, just because your domain name would fit with the search terms used. Search engines such as Google give high ranking for a domain with plumbing in its name when someone is searching for something that includes the word “plumbing”.

In addition, by including your local geographics into the domain name and you may achieve an increasingly good ranking for local searches for your area of profession. Going back to the example of www.castlerockplumbing.com and you are even likely to get a page 1 on Google’s search results, when someone types in the words ‘Castle Rock Plumbing’.

You might even get the number one spot on page one for such a search with such a domain name. Presumably this is due to the fact that Google gives high ranking for domain names that include the words people are searching for, and my take on that is, that Google expects that someone who has the domain www.casterockplumbing.com must be an authoritative figure for plumbing in Castle Rock. Makes sense too, doesn’t it?

If you followed our series that we called Marketing Castle Rock, in which we looked at how we could obtain a very high ranking with Google’s search search results for the words of ‘Marketing Castle Rock’. Before we began that series we had done absolutely no work in order for us to be ranked for these words and that also showed in the search results. In fact, you would have to dive into the search results and go all the way back to page 21 to find any mentioning of us.

Well, we did some work and it really helped. In one day, we managed to actually get page 1 listing. This particular listing was our Google Places spot and this is indeed a listing that can be extremely powerful. If you do not already have a spot here, you definitely will want to explore getting that. If you need help getting that, it would be our pleasure and honor to help you accomplish it. You may, however, wish to revisit the Marketing Castle Rock series to learn why you cannot obtain your Google Places results in one day unless you already have registered your business with Google though.

However, I was aiming to get a spot that would be our website, so either our website in general or a link towards an article that is on our website and well, that proved more tricky.

While we have not exhausted our options and possibilities yet, it took a few days to get us to page 2 of the results and we still invariably hold a position there. Invariably, for these things change all the time depending on your own activities and those of the ones who end up competing for the spots (knowingly or not).

In the series you would know also, that I mentioned the absolute first spot was occupied by a company that actually seems to auction cattle. Not very relevant really in comparison to our Marketing Agency and our efforts to be ranked for possibilities of such under Castle Rock, but seeing that this cattle auction business actually call themselves Castle Rock Marketing then we end up competing with them. More importantly and especially in terms of this post here, their website is www.castlerockmarketing.com

Google search results are the outcomes of an algorithm and while we can only guess at what goes into the decision makings of this algorithm, it seems apparent and seems to be agreed upon in general, that Google (and other search engines) like updated and relevant content and thus that websites that provide this will be favored.

Well, the cattle auctioning website seems to be producing very little of this and also seems to have little if any activity. Yet it ranks on the number one spot. Why?

Because, the keywords I’m aiming at actually make up its URL. In other words the relative importance of your keywords being part of your URL is emphasized and illustrated well by this example.

In other words, you may wish to see if you can find a domain that could fit into such criteria for your business. Having a cool website is awesome, but if no one finds it, it does little good for you or your business.

I hope that this post has given you food for thought on how you should choose your domain and the importance of said domain name for your chances of getting a good ranking that will help your business get found online.

Please let us hear about your success in your efforts and let us know how it goes for you. as I said, it can seem very difficult to obtain the domain you most want, but often with a little ingenuity and playing around with words, you can get something that will serve your business really well. Good luck in your hunt for your perfect domain.

In the next post we will look at which technical platform to use for your website. Don’t worry, I won’t go into too many technicalities in that post, but merely end at a conclusion of what I would suggest for you and state why those would be my suggestions. I hope to see you again when that post comes up later today or tomorrow (I suspect) and I encourage you to sign up for following along this series on The Perfect Website, by signing up using the box below.

Creating The Perfect Website - Knowing Their Pain _ Someone is searching for your brilliant solution

Knowing Their Pain

We are in our series on The Perfect Website, which is all to do with how you create your perfect website and how you get it to work for you and create the results you want.

You probably want your website to give a good presentation of you, your message or your products and services or the solutions that you provide. For businesses, personal or not, you probably want it to end up resulting in a provision of sales, either through the website itself or at least via the website.

This series should help you make some of your decisions and guide you through some of the questions you will need to answer for yourself, so that you will end up with a website that achieves what you are seeking.

In the previous post we looked predominantly at two main questions that you need to look at and how your answers to these questions may help bring about the answers to how you website should look. What color palette you might employ, the images that you will use and also the vocabulary that you will put in when you add text to your website.

The two key questions were:

  1. Who Is My Ideal Avatar?
  2. What Problem(s) Do I Solve?

As you may recall, your avatar is really as detailed a description as possible of the ideal client that you will like to have come calling you on and on again in your business.

I may in this series be focusing on a website that represents a business, but it really doesn’t matter what you are “selling” and the elements of my suggestions will still hold true.

Even if you aren’t selling anything per se, but just wish to convey your thoughts and musings, well, then ultimately, there are probably a certain set of people that you’ll rather want to attract than others. Probably you want to attract people that will resonate with your message and that will support your ideas.

By being as detailed as possible when you answer for yourself the question of Who Is My Ideal Avatar? Will help you greatly formulate outcomes that will eventually actually attract such persons while simultaneously repel people who don’t align with you, your products, your message or whatever you will put on your website.

This is good all around.

Sometimes, people are fearing they will repel others, but in truth, if the person coming to your website does not like you or resonate with your content, you will probably be better off if they are repelled and stay away altogether.

Instead you want to attract people who will love what you are bringing and who will support your quest and in case of a business, who will buy from you.

Question 2 continues and helps you get even more straight about how your website should look and how you might want to present your content.

People are usually looking for answers or solutions when online – outside of just wasting time and dillydallying from one website to another or hanging out on social media or watching videos endlessly.

What Problem Do I Solve?

A great instructor once told me that you have to camp out in their nightmare. It means that whatever problem you solve, someone has that problem and it is causing pain for that person. Paint this picture well for them and really dig into it, and then when you present your solution to them, they’ll pull out their wallet and buy from you.

It sounds a bit harsh and yes, it is in fact a bit of twisting the knife in the wound. But it can be very effective.

I’m a person who is choosing to stay as positive as possible and wishes to bring positive mindset, thoughts and actions into what I do and how I interact with the world (I wasn’t always like this, mind you). So in truth, I would rather wish to do some of this part differently.

But you need to remember that you are providing solutions of some sort and you will need to connect with your audience first. When you have shown and demonstrated that you know their pain and their struggle, then they may better trust you when you say that you have found a solution and now you are providing this to them (for pay of course).

Say you recount your story of having been debt ridden and suffered the consequences of having had a terrible credit score, but that you found your way out and now have a dream lifestyle. When you recount the story of all the struggles, of all the terrible moments when the gas, electricity and your phone were shut off. When you couldn’t get the loans you needed or the terms were such that they just dug you deeper into that hole. When your personal relationships went down the drain as a result of all the financial hardship and when you didn’t even have the few dollars for buying diapers for your newborn.

When you can recounts such stories with sincerity and real experiences, your audience who may be facing such troubles will see that you have been there and that you understand their pain.

So then when you present your solution of how you found a better way and how you pulled yourself out of your hole and how you can help them too getting back on foot and back on track to a steady financial state, then they will tune in and be interested in your solution.

OK, this particular problem-solution example might not be relevant to your business or to the problems you solve, but yet again it is. You just have to ask yourself again What Problems Do I Solve? Someone out there is searching for your brilliant solution.

A plumber for instance might be able to retell a story on how a burst water pipe led to massive water damage and all the pain that came along with that and how you have found a solution to prevent such before it ever even happens. So it’s basically the same thing as the horror story of the financially challenged person, you dig into the pain and then you offer your solution.

If you didn’t read the first session of this series, you can go back and read here: The Perfect Website – Session 1 – The Place To Start

I would love to learn more about what Problems You Solve and how you are making the world aware of your solutions. So please comment and let me and others know.

Amazing Ideas, Inc. is a marketing agency that focuses predominantly on the online aspects of your marketing, including the design of your website for optimal performance, reach, capturing leads and converting to sales. In addition we too are based in Castle Rock.

Well, throughout the next week, we are seeking to connect with more businesses of the local community which means that we will be knocking off a full $500 on web design work that we will do for you.

Special $500 Off web design work from Amazing Ideas, Inc, Catle Rock Marketing Agency during 2 weeks of June 2015

That’s right, we are looking to build our portfolio of work for local Castle Rock businesses and we are willing to award a nice reduction off of our going rates for gaining new local clients.

Since every website is different and since the needs to be met from one business to another vary, we cannot just off the bat quote a price. Let’s just say, that most website design work we engage in commence around the $6,500 mark and some run north of $25,000 or even much, much higher depending on complexity.

That said, if you are in need of a very nice looking website, but super simple, we have some very good starter packaged websites priced at the ridiculously low rate of $2,495 and you can even apply the $500 discount towards this package. This starter package, however, is likely to increase any time soon and should be at an usual price of $3,750.

In other words, if you are contemplating updating, upgrading or revamping your existing website or indeed in need of a brand new website, then you may want to pick up the phone and call us now on 888-988-2489 to discuss your project. Alternatively, shoot us an email. But don’t wait too long. Before you’ll know it, the week has gone and the offer is off the table.

These special offers are only during this next week commencing TODAY, Friday June 12 2015, so do not postpone reaching out to us. When the next week is over, we will love to help you still but then the $500 discount is off the table and the special starter packages are probably back to more natural rates.

If you are still on the fence whether you should do it now, then I urge you to test your current site if you have one and test it for mobile-friendliness. If your current website is not mobile-friendly, well, you probably lost 80% of all your local traffic and about 60% of all non-local traffic. That is HUGE and you had better correct this sooner rather than later.

Don’t know what I’m talking about? To learn more about this, please read this article we posted not too long ago.

We can help you and we can get your website up to speed in no time.

While we usually agree on a 30 day turn around time, we like to over-deliver and do so FAST.

Creating The Perfect Website with Amazing Ideas Inc

The Perfect Website – Session 1 – The Place To Start

Session 1 – The Place To Start

Tastes varies from person to person. I might like the color Blue while you might favor the color Red. I’m very visually driven and inspired, whereas you might be leaning more something that has a flavor of technical sentiments.

Some people will love one thing while others will detest it. It’s part of our human nature that we are alike and yet also different and thank God for that. Wouldn’t it be boring if we all were exactly the same?

Because taste varies, I will not make this particular post extensive on how your website should look in order to be pretty and beautiful, for it might be in my mind and you might hate it. Instead what we will focus on are some more general aspects of creating a website that works.

We will expand upon this topic area in the course of this article series and honestly we may jump about a bit as things come to mind and as it may make sense to return to previous comments.

But here’s where we will start and this might actually surprise you a bit. We will start with a mental image of WHO it is we are serving.

It makes very good sense to take a step back and think a little about what we are all about. Or in this case, what are you about? What’s your business about?

Since we are diving into the topic area of the perfect website for your business, we need to pose the question: What is your business?

Better yet, you may really wish to start of with the questions of Who. Who are you serving? What problems do you solve? And not least, Who is your ideal client?

Who is your ideal client? In the marketing world we often call the ideal client for the Avatar. Or the perfect avatar. No, not the avatar of James Cameroun’s famous movie. But who is your avatar?

If you think about it you can probably picture in your mind your ideal client pretty well. If you are lost a bit, then just think of a moment when you engaged with a client who bought from you. Remember a moment when you really felt that you helped that person (e.g. find a perfect dress for her needs, help him make his car purchase come through, finance and all, help find that perfect house for the young family, help someone with their water damage in their home, etc.).

Remember how happy they were, even when they had to pay you and remember how good that made you feel. Not just that you were paid, but that you made a difference in someone’s life or just in someone’s day.

As you do this exercise you may actually get a pretty good sentiment about the type of person that makes for your ideal client.

You want the ideal client to be someone who actually pays you, so that you can not only sustain your business, but preferably sustain it well. You want this person to be happy when dealing with you, love your products or services and even be happy when they hand over their money to you.

When you have such a person in your business, you are more likely too to feel great not only about what you delivered and how you served, but you also had less trouble and hassle with it. It probably gave you a sense of fulfillment.

If you are lucky the relation is even so fruitful that not only will the ideal client come back for more from you, but the will also rave about you and your business to everybody else, spreading the good word on where to buy from. In this case, to buy from you.

Ok, so picturing this person, you may wish to actually put a name to he or she. Further, place and age for the person and then too drill down into all sorts of other characteristics, adjectives and facts about the person.

Let’s say you are a personal fitness trainer. Perhaps you have found that your happiest clients that seem to give you the most joy helping and that seems to give you the best business is a mom in her early 40s.

Let’s call her Jane. She is 43 years old. She has two children James of 12 and Helen of 10 and husband John who is 46.

They live in the local town where you work too. In fact they live in the little community in a 400,000 dollar home. They have lived there the past 12 years and seem very happy and engaged in the local area.

She works part time in the local hairdresser salon, while he works in a car dealership by the bigger neighboring town.

She drives red Toyota Sienna and he drives a newer black Toyota Avalon. That’s right they both drive cars that they bough from the husband’s place of work. They got a good deal on the previous demo Avalon model and a nice used Sienna.

Together they have a steady income and live their lives fairly moderately.

The children goes to the nearby school and mom is often the designated driver and does most of the household chores.

Children and busy housewife life along with part time job and over the years, Jane has gained a little too much weight. She’s unhappy about this and wishes to shed at least 40 pounds and get back into a better shape and wishes to feel better about herself and so she can fit her old favorite dress that is still hanging in her closet.

Let’s stop here.

The point is that you wish to be as specific as possible. The more specific the easier everything else comes along.

If you put your mind to it, you can probably be very specific about the character of your ideal client and if you get in doubt, perhaps you will just need to think about the client you have already helped who had a great experience with you and that left you with good money exchanged and a great felling of having helped someone. When you think of that person, model your ideal after he or she. Perhaps you’ll even actually use that person entirely in your exercise for this purpose.

You may wish never to let anyone – let alone this specific person – know about it. You just never know when someone might take it as a compliment or when they get really upset about it.

But drill into as many specific adjectives and characteristics of this person; gender, age, physical look, how they dress, what car do they drive, where do they live, how many children if any, family traits, nationality, convictions (of any sorts), interests and hobbies etc.,etc.

A good friend of mine, who also happens to be an excellent marketer, calls this exercise the Homer Simpson exercise. His favorite cartoon is that of the Simpsons and he knows it so well, that he can quickly pick out any character from that cartoon and describe it down in minute detail everything about this person and everything related to this person.

The Simpsons

Imagine you were to sell a cruise travel to Homer Simpson. If you know a bit about him, do you think you might be able to find the mental images that you would have to sell him on in order to get him to buy it? Perhaps it even would involve letting him know what this would do for his wife?

Do you see how powerful this exercise can be?

Alright. So far so good. You have all the intricate details of your character down. So here’s the reason you may wish to go through this exercise. When you know you you will be addressing and who it is that you will speak to, it becomes easier to find the words that will resonate too. Yes, this includes the actual vocabulary and choices of words. You may talk differently to the guy who paves the roads doing hard asphalt work in smelly fumes hot summers as well as cold winters, than you would to the more manicured banker who oversees the mortgage loans of your local bank.

But it’s much more than the vocabulary and the choice of words. It ‘s also about what their interest are and how your services or products match or relates to it.

This brings us to the next big question: What problem do you solve for your ideal client?

Regardless of what you are selling, the end outcome is that the buyer wishes to accomplish something.

There’s an old saying that goes something like this: People Do Not Buy The Drill, They Buy The Hole In The Wall!

That’s right. The drill is just the instrument that they will buy in order to get what they want, which is the hole, so they can hang that picture or whatever they need the hole for.

Similarly, they don’t buy the tree, they buy the shade the tree will give them.

You get the point.

So let’s go back to the beginning of this article. By answering these two very important points of Who Is My Ideal Client and What Problem Do I Solve, a lot of the choices that you will make when considering your website will come more naturally to you and will quite possibly also strike a better note with your ideal client recipient audience.

Fine, from above you have your vocabulary chosen and now you consider your choice of color scheme for your website.

For instance. You may like to have your site have a black background. Well, this can look pretty cool indeed (in the eyes of some). One of my earlier websites for my personal ego (I lovingly call it my personal ego-website) had an all black background while the text then would be white.

It looked pretty good, but there are two problems with this.

One, I might find it looking pretty good, but you might actually hate it. Usually it might in fact appeal better to the male audience whereas the female audience will not resonate with it.

Two, a white text on black background can be very tiring on the eyes, so I wouldn’t recommend too much use of this for most website purposes. Yes, you can make use of it for smaller sections, or for e.g. boxes to stand out and such, but just don’t overdo it without giving consideration for these two points I have just made about the color choice.

It’ funny to see when a website is appealing to the female gender and perhaps even more so when its by a female vendor and not least when they are relating to emotions and aiming to evoke feeling. You can probably picture this even without me pointing too far ahead with it.

Let’s say for instance it’s the website of an inspirational female instructor who wishes to empower females to step into their true self to release their real personal strength and who they really are and let go of every self doubt that has been holding them back till now, and go forth building their own business of helping others with say relationships.

This paragraph alone and you will probably have a ton of visual images and possibly word choices that come to you. I don’t even have to picture the image much more and you can probably take it very, very far in your mind how a website should look for this or how it might look.

Example of female characteristics of a website

Imagine instead, you are addressing gay men. How might this affect the imagery? Or let’s say you are a tomboyish lesbian female addressing other lesbians, how then would you imagine the website look?

Contrast that over to the look of the professional Toyota car dealership’s website referencing our good friend John, husband of Jane, from above. Or contrast in with websites befitting the local bank, the CPA or the lawyer.

Example of Car Website

Completely different images, sentiments and emotions, right?

So in closing, the two main questions and the exercises I gave you here make a lot of sense and can help direct you to the right choices for your website.

In upcoming articles, we will look at the choice of platform and my suggestion for what to go for. I will lay out my reason for doing so along with multiple examples of why I think you should go with my suggestions.

The Perfect Website The Perfect Website Design - new article series from Amazing Ideas inc, Marketing Agency in Castle Rock Colorado

The Perfect Website

What would the perfect website be like?

For businesses I supposed the perfect website would be one that presents your business well and automates a lot of things for you, not least sales, deliveries and follow ups. In a perfect world it would work so well that sales just come in all by themselves on autopilot, are fulfilled and that subsequent follow through and customer care is carried out also automatically. Even more perfect, once set up, no more work would have to be done.

Sounds nice doesn’t it?

I would like one of those for each and every one of my businesses.

The truth is you can actually have a lot of these things in place for your website. The truth is also that, no, it will never be a set it and forget it.

Things move ahead and things change. You need to tweak and amend as it may become necessary. You may also need to feed your website with new and updated content, so that you keep bringing value into the market place, content relevant to what you are offering, value that your prospects can appreciate and that may help you and topics that may help your website get found in relevant searches and more.

But like I said. You can actually have a lot of the factors set in place and your website will perform wonderfully.

Is it easy?

Well, some of the parts are easy enough to set up. Some are a bit tricky or cumbersome and take some more time and work.

Getting it to work in unison and getting it to attract the right clients is a big challenge.

Often it comes down to what you are selling, how easily it is to specify what unique advantages you have and making a fantastically converting offer to a very highly targeted audience.

The more precise you have these points down, the more likely it is that you can make it happen and generate results from it.

We at Amazing Ideas, Inc., will be commencing a new series of posts and articles here on the topic of websites and website designs.

We hope that you will follow along and chime in with what you like and what you don’t like. We would also love to hear from you what is working for you right now and in fact what is not working for you.

Just enter your comments to each post as we move ahead or send us an email with your insights.

Should you be in need of assistance of getting a new website up, or of revamping an old website, or upgrading your current website to a mobile responsive and mobile friendly website, then we would love to help you out. Just call us or send us an email and we can get started on that.

Please follow along our series on Website Design.

This current series is relevant for all who is running a business and it will give you insights and points to ponder when deciding upon your website layout, look, feel and functionality. Current at Amazing Ideas, Inc. we are seeking to expand on the portfolio of websites that we create for customers and we specifically wish to expand on website for our local area of Castle Rock, Colorado. We welcome website design queries from all over though, so don’t let it hold you back, if we can help you.

As we talk with more and more clients about their websites, many of the same questions will arise and with this new series, we hope that we can provide even more answers and insights for you, our prospective clients and clients to go and review.

Amazing Ideas, Inc. Castle Rock Marketing Company

Castle Rock Marketing Expert Warns Business Owners Of Complacency

Business owners still don’t seem to grasp the importance of getting their website mobile-friendly. Every day these businesses are losing tons of business as their websites will not appear in searches performed on mobile devices.

Castle Rock, CO. – June 10, 2015 – Marketing expert and successful international serial entrepreneur Mikkel Pitzner warns business owners of not paying attention to their online web presence.

Mikkel Pitzner, who among other businesses runs the local Castle Rock based marketing company, Amazing Ideas Inc., notes that still far too many businesses have not yet updated their website to be mobile-friendly and are therefore missing out on a lot of traffic and ultimately business.

He is referring to the latest Google algorithm update that was effected on April 21 2015, which basically discards all non-mobile-friendly websites from search results that are performed on mobile devices. Mikkel Pitzner also points out that more searches today are done on mobile devices, so in essence businesses that haven’t ensured their websites will perform on a mobile device will lose up to 60 of their traffic.

In fact, Mikkel Pitzner, stresses that for local searches, businesses might lose up 80% of the traffic. According to Mikkel Pitzner, local traffic may even hold the most potential sales, as this traffic often represents buyers who are ready to make their purchases now.

“I have had the pleasure of speaking to numerous businesses about the importance of them ensuring their websites are up to date, but it has been surprising how many of them are yet still so lackadaisical about it and not doing anything about it”, says Mikkel Pitzner and continues, “I believe, they just don’t understand what this actually means for their business and just how much they are throwing away from their businesses. It’s rather incredible, especially when you consider how little an investment is required to fix their problem and how that investment will work for them 24-7 all year round for years to come”

Via Amazing Ideas, Inc. Mikkel Pitzner and his team are helping businesses getting their websites upgraded to mobile responsive and mobile friendly website that will ensure they will show up and perform well across all platforms, including all the mobile devices.

Dear Business Owner Wake Up, if your website is not mobile friendly then you are missing out of up to 80% of your new potential clients

Dear Business Owner Wake Up

Dear Business Owner, Wake UP!!

Dear Business Owner, I understand you. You are constantly bombarded by sales calls and uninvited spammy emails all trying to sell you this, that and the other. Really annoying indeed.

We all hate it, and despise it. Yet they keep coming at us.

I guess someone out there once in a while fall into the trap and the spammers make a sale. Why else would they keep annoying us all.

Ultimately, they are just playing a numbers game: Send enough emails out and in the end they’ll sell enough to have made it all worthwhile.

The problem with all of this is that when something we should perhaps tune into come our way, we tend to tune out and discard it all along with all the spam.

Currently, there are a huge amount of business owners who seem to completely miss the beat on new changes that has already take place with the search engines – most notably Google.

We probably all know that Google is the main search engine for anything online searches.

Well, as I have pointed out previously in previous articles and posts, Google introduced yet another algorithm update on April 21st 2015. This update effectively removed all non-mobile-friendly websites from searches that are done on any mobile devices.

What essentially this means is that if a website is non deemed mobile-friendly, then it just won’t show in the Google searches that are done on a mobile device.

Now, you may be wondering how big a deal this is. And the answer is: IT”S A GIGIANTIC DEAL!!!

More than 60% of all searches these days are done on a mobile device and for local relevant searches this even increases to about 80% of all searches.

In other words, if your website is not mobile friendly, you just might have lost about 80% of all new traffic – read: all new potential hungry to buy your products or services clients.

Now is that a big enough deal for you .

I think we can all agree that is indeed a pretty big deal.

But even today, more than a month after Google made this algorithm update, far too many websites are still not amended to being mobile-friendly.

In other words, far too many businesses are oblivious to what this could and quite possibly already means to their businesses.

In a previous article, I called this a case of a Peter And The Wolf syndrome.

When we are all bombarded every single day with spam – especially in our email inbox, but also in our physical mail, through phone calls and what not, we eventually tend to shut out all that comes our way, even the stuff that we should probably pay attention to.

In addition as previous algorithm updates that we may have paid attention to, really just had negative effects on the “black hat” and dubious marketers, then we as business owners are just not paying much attention to yet another Google update.

How do I know?

Cause I’ just like most other business owners.

I own and operate several small businesses and am in addition involved with several others in the form of being a consultant, board of directors, marketing advisor or other, so I have in excess of 20 email addresses that I need to monitor and thus I too receive more than a fair share of email spam, physical spam and telephone spam calls.

I too used to glance at the news of what a new Google algorithm update would mean for my business and invariably found that Google just tried to eliminate the very dubious efforts of some marketers to “con” Google into high ranking on Google’s Page 1 in searches for their websites, and since I never even wanted to contemplate any trickery or dubious marketing efforts for my businesses, well, then any of these Google algorithm updates, really didn’t have any negative effects on me or my business. In other words, I needn’t worry about it or waste any energy or resources on it. In fact, I was only too pleased that Google would hammer down on something dubious going on, for it would increase my real and true objectives of placing my relevant offerings in front of the right people, as the dubious characters were removed from Google’s search results.

But my point is, that after too many Google updates or rather too much news about yet another Google update that didn’t really affect me or my business negatively or require me to effect some actions, it has lead me to become numb and deaf to more new algorithm updates or news there of.

So that’s what I think is happening now too.

Articles have even demonstrated that even more than possibly 40% of Fortune 500 companies still till date have non-mobile-friendly websites.

Can you imagine the amount of relevant traffic and new customer potentials they might be missing out on now?

It has got to be substantial.

Yet, even if the fix to their situation might be relatively easy, they still haven’t fixed it. And we are already more than one month in following Google algorithm update that took place April 21st 2015.

In other words, it tells us these businesses are just oblivious to what the new algorithm update means for their business.

For small businesses, this is probably even worse. First off, small businesses even though they are often more nibble and can more effectively, they are often also suffering from smaller amounts of resources and thus often learn of certain needs later or may have to postpone implementing changes for longer due to lack of financial resources.

The result is that the problem for smaller businesses probably is way more problematic ad big than even the big companies. What makes it even worse is, that these smaller businesses often cannot withstand another negative blow to their businesses or certainly will feel the grunt of any business set backs to a higher extent.

But such is life. When we have gotten our earful or irrelevant sales calls or doomsday news, we tune out and eventually we may just completely overhear the many taps on our shoulders that here might be something we need to pay attention to.

So, as I said, I get you. I fully sympathize with you and understand why you have tuned out and why you may be pre-occupied with other aspects of your business. I’m there too and honestly, had I not been involved in helping people get their high ranking results on Google and obtaining vastly more sales via my efforts with their marketing and their positioning, then I probably too would completely have ignored any and all news of a Google algorithm update.

But this one, you might just want to actually pay attention to.

That’s why I say to you: Dear Business Owner – Wake Up!!

Call on your web developer today to get you and your business and website squared away or call on us to help you out. In many cases the fix is quick and easy, in others the work is a bit more extensive. Regardless, this is an important piece to get right and any day you are not getting it right and you just might have lost about 80% of all new potential clients coming in.

The sooner you get squared away the more you will benefit and regain your business, possibly even advancing in front of your worst competitors along the way.

So call us on 888-988-2489 or send us an email to info@amazingideasinc.com to get you and your online presence sorted, build more sales and make more profits. Mention this article and get an extra 10% off (only valid during the month of June 2015).

Black Hat Marketer Without The Hat

White Hat Tricks Versus Black Hat Tricks

White Hat Tricks Versus Black Hat Tricks

An introduction to White Hat and Black Hat terms as used in connection with marketing language

By Mikkel Pitzner, Marketing Expert and Serial Entrepreneur, CEO of Amazing Ideas, Inc.

Posted June 8, 2015

Follow up of recent post that promised to tell more about these two terms that are often used when marketers talk online. This is also a follow up to the Marketing Castle Rock series, that we have posted here recently.

A few posts back (in a post from yesterday), I mentioned the words of White Hat tricks and Black Hat tricks. These are words often used when discussing Search Engines Optimization efforts. I promised that I would give you more insights into these areas, but then I got all caught up in my efforts of getting this website here ranked for the keywords of Marketing Castle Rock.

Well, I do wish to live up to my promise, so here goes, let’s look a little at the White Hat versus Black Hat tricks.

Now, the entire series that I have had going on these past 2 or 3 days, which I call Marketing Castle Rock series, has all been about getting the ranking in Google’s search results for the words of Marketing Castle Rock, so that’s why we even encountered the terms White Hat and Black Hat. In short White Hat are true and real measures that you can engage in in order to seek your desired ranking results, while Black Hat take on a more dubious character.

The White Hat elements would be to actually bring real content that has real value for the ones who are looking for what you are bringing. That means you are bringing real posts or articles with really good content from which people will derive a real value. It could be entertainment content that’s really good or it could be for instance educational content, such as content on How To Get Ranked For Your Keywords.

White Hat also means that you are matching the keywords that you are seeking to get ranked for with words that are actually relevant for what people are searching for.

So for instance if I was to search for something on a new song from Taylor Swift and I end up with relevant material on such a song and that such material actually brought me real and preferably valuable content for my interest, then this would be entirely White Hat. If, however, you were a person of lesser integrity and you made use of tricks that could get you ranked for the same new song from Taylor Swift, but all you really wanted to show when I clicked your link was something you wanted to e.g. sell me, that had actually nothing to do with Taylor Swift or her new song, then you would term your use of efforts completely Black Hat.

When Google returns search results to you for whatever words you typed in, Google really wants to match up the results with something useful that will get you to something your wanted to get to. This does not preclude any sales, so pages that sell stuff are totally fine as long as what is being sold there (and provided it’s a legitimate seller) is what you were looking for. I might for instance soon need to go looking for a new bike for my little son who has outgrown his first bike, so if I typed in something like “best bike for a 5 year old”, then I might be perfectly happy about finding a review page that would tell me about the current top 4 or 5 models on the market, include a pro and con list or comparison of each, included the reviewer’s personal choices and reasons for same, along with a buy it here now button. That could still be highly valuable for me and would make up something that would make it easy and relevant for me.

If, however, the result in the same search got me to a page, where the content had little or nothing to do with “best bike for a 5 year old”, but that the person behind the landing page was really just scheming in order to get the traffic (me visiting as well as other searchers using similar search words) and trying to sell me something else (don’t really know what that would be in this case), well, then for sure this site would have implemented Black Hat elements in order to get a ranking for the searched keywords. In effect, such a search result would not have been what Google would have intended for you, but since Google is driven by machines (bots and algorithms), then results like this could potentially slip through if the culprit had employed techniques that made it pass through the net.

In my view there is something sinister about the Black Hat operations. That’s why I illustrated this article with the image of the sinister guy in the rain. Of course he lost his black hat in the image, but you get the point.

Google’s algorithms change and are updated from time to time.

Very often Google make changes to actually close loopholes that schemers have found and are using to pass their websites in front of innocent and unsuspecting people. If you have read a thing or two about such algorithm updates, you might often have heard the whining and crying of marketers who all of a sudden lost ranking and traffic after an update from Google had been implemented.

My personal take on most of such whining that I have encountered via the internet is that their losses were well deserved. Often they were using tricks just to get ranked, instead of actually seeking to provide real value to the end receiver. Perhaps whatever they were selling were good enough, but they hadn’t acquired the traffic in what I would term in appropriate ways.

Perhaps they were buying their ways to thousand of links to the websites from dubious websites all over. Websites that were just set up to provide these so-called backlinks. Or perhaps they utilized an array of scheming plots to get the ranking in place.

I have never studied the Black Tricks myself, so I’m actually not really well familiar with how you would do this or what works. It’s not for me. I find it dubious and scheming. Yes, I wish to get my ranking for whatever is really relevant to what my site or my customer’s site is about. But I wish to do so via the correct ways and most notably via actually providing real value and real content.

Is this hard work? and is it possibly harder work?

I think you can concluded a definite YES to both of these questions. However, the good thing is, that if you build your website and your website’s content up to become an authoritative site and a site that’s well worth visiting because you bring real value, real insights and real (and preferably original) content, then you will never be hurt from a Google algorithm update. That’s why you rarely hear whining from those who really bring you good content rich websites.

Employ good sound strategies which include a deliberate attempt to bring valuable articles, posts, videos, insights and such within the topic area that you are about on your website and you can slowly and steadily bring you up in the right positions with Google. It takes a bit more work and it may take quite a while before people actually become aware of it, but over time you may be able to create a following that like your content and will actually help share it among their friends and peers of own account and thereby help you grow your reach.

Employ Black Hat tricks and you will likely be looking over your shoulder for yet another Google algorithm update that will strip your of your achieved ranking. Heck, who knows, Google may even “bury” your site from searches more or less entirely.

A certain type of marketers have always been trying to scheme their way to get in front of people via the search results. As a business owner, you don’t want to be one of them, nor do you want to hire one of them. Use your efforts and money in a wiser way and know that it will be way worth it and be a solution that bears a whole different longevity with it too.

My current series that we are posting these days also here to our latest news has been all about our wish to get ranked for the words Marketing Castle Rock. While I have mentioned, I probably should have chosen some other words or other combination of words (or possibly more long tail search terms), these are the words we chose and have stuck to while we are providing you with an example. For our business, it would make sense to get in front of people who are interested in marketing. Either wanting to learn about how to do it or even better wanting to hire someone knowledgeable to do it for them (that would be us, Amazing Ideas, Inc. we hope). It also makes sense that we would wish to get in front of the businesses that are in our local area, Castle Rock. Not only because it would be nice to further strengthen our relations with the local community and also because sometimes it is just easier and makes for stronger connections when you can meet in person, but also because as I have mentioned previously in the Marketing Castle Rock series, that a local buyer may be much more likely to actually buy now as opposed to just be an information seeker.

As you may understand, in seeking the desired ranking for Marketing Castle Rock we have implemented some efforts, among which is in fact the article/post series in itself. So while this serve what you would call a self-serving purpose, we have also simultaneously brought real value to the series, by explaining to some degree what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we could do better and not least how you could do this with good results for your business. In other words, we are carrying out efforts that helps our ranking, while also bringing real insights and lessons to you along the way.

We even listed in some of the posts a brief list of the takeaways and points for you to consider. Learning points that for a lot of people may in fact entail real aha moments.

Our website and not least our efforts of bringing us forth as an authoritative site that adds value to the visitors are very new. Over time and when we keep up decent work and keep bringing sound content, lessons, updates etc., our ranking for relevant terms and words will come more naturally. All beginnings require extensive work. If you have ever tried to build a business from scratch, you know exactly what I mean. Lots of work and lots of moving parts. Often days are filled with set backs until you finally reach a point of decent momentum in a positive direction. Such is it with most websites too.

However, as you can see if you review our Marketing Castle Rock series, we managed to get from a page 21 ranking to a page 2 Google result. The last bit getting to a page 1 may require quite a bit more work, if we even ever get there for these particular 3 words.

I mentioned our chosen 3 words of Marketing Castle Rock may not have been particularly good and I have previously given part reasons to this, so I will not repeat to much of this now. But in short the word “Marketing” in itself, is possibly way too vague not being truly specific to us. It might be a great deal easier to add a few extra descriptive words to the search terms to up the relevancy for what really has to do with us and not the several million other search results you find. Marketing is also a word used in too man connections, so not only does it have a huge competition for that word, but it also can take you to too many unrelated results.

Castle Rock is the name of the town in which Amazing Ideas, Inc. is located so that makes a lot of sense. However, when you do not put quotation marks in your search words, then the three words can make up all sorts of combinations, so it may even include things that has nothing to do with the town of its name, but could have to do with the building “Castle” or with a stone or a “Rock”. Judging from the current search results that I see, it may not be so much be that they relate to the building or the stone, but that the town actually has relevance to the search results, so so far so good. There are also a number of marketing business, marketing companies or marketing agencies among the results, so that also makes the results relevant to what I am hoping to find – all of these would just be colleagues or competitors, depending on how you view it or how good you are at your business.

However, in the search results I see a whole lot of listings that are very little relevant to what I was hoping to see.

There’s the notorious first listing that even has a couple of extra listings on Google’s first page and whose business is actually about auctioning of cattle. Their result is however relevant to the search result only because they have chosen to call themselves CastleRockMarketing. They even have that particular URL/domain name and that counts highly with Google. On top of that they have similarly named Facebook fanpage and a twitter account. It makes complete sense for the Google bots can only see what the machine/bots see.

You might question if it makes sense for someone who auctions off cattle to name themselves CastleRockMarketing (even if they are from Castle Rock), but that’s another story. I suspect they might actually get in front of more relevant people to their particular business if their name indeed did include something about cattle, like e.g. CastleRockCattleMarketing. I know that does get a bit long, but ultimately, they will gain no business from all the searchers of marketing related stuff, who are not trying to sell cattle. So as I said, they may not gain anything at all, but in fact actually lose out to those who will be searching for something related to cattle and sale of same (or possibly buying of same).

Among a lot of the other search results, I see positions of Marketing managers and such listed. It may be very well relevant, just not for the intention I had in mind. Going deeper into the following pages of the Google search results and I see a bunch of properties for sale listings. The location may be highly relevant, but perhaps in my objective, the marketing words seems a miss. But these results are as I say poor in terms of what I intended to get ranked for and also for what I intended to search for when choosing and using the words. This is exactly the result of poorly chosen words and that’s my mistake.

The word marketing is too commonly used for too many things that may have little to do with people wishing to gain marketing insights or better yet hiring a marketing agency such as my Amazing Ideas, Inc. That is why my chosen word of marketing is poorly chosen and that’s what you should avoid. Later some day, we may look into specific research on keywords and how you should go about it, but we will leave that for some other day. For now, let me just repeat briefly that you wish to find somethings that may be even more specific to your business and something that narrows it down even further. Combine it further with longer tail search terms, which essentially are longer sentences to get ranked for.

My poorly chosen words, are likely to make it too tricky to get onto a first page search result and also put me in front of people who are in fact not looking for my offered services, but perhaps are looking for how to market their property or may be looking to obtain a marketing position or something else completely unrelated to my business, my website, my content and my aims.

I can do better than this by selecting better keywords to seek to get listed for. You can do better for your business, by making better choices too and avoiding my hasty mistakes.

I know this was a long article. If you have actually made it this far, I thank you kindly for your time and interest. I hope that it brought you value and insights. As you can see, I wish I might have paid a little more attention to my choosing of the keywords for me, but then again, it only helped to illustrates just as valuable a couple of points of what not to do. The full Marketing Castle Rock series hold a lot of insights so I believe it to be worth your while to review it all. I hope that you will and that you will let me know how it helped you in your business and with your marketing.

MarketingCastleRock - Marketing Castle Rock Local Shoppers who are more likely to buy NOW!

How Do You Get Ranked In Google Searches For Your Local Business?

Getting ranked in Google searches for something relevant to your local business is extremely important.

By doing so, you will basically get in front of a lot of people who just may become your future customers. For any local searches, I have previously stressed that such a visitor may be even more highly likely to buy from you NOW compared to searches that are non-local, who may be more information seekers rather than buyers.

The reason is that when we do a local search it is even more often than not the case, that we are actually in need of something specific here and now. Perhaps we need to find a dry cleaner, or a local DIY store, or find the nearest paint store or for the women a place to get our nails done.

When we do the local searches we are oftentimes much closer to actually effecting a purchase.

That’s why as a business, you will really want to ensure that you pop up in searches for your local market for something relevant to what you are selling.

Amazing Ideas, Inc. is a Castle Rock based marketing company – or marketing agency if you will – that helps businesses get their online marketing in place, so that customers come calling them instead of their competitors. Our aim is to ensure your marketing works so well for you, that customers come calling you, rather than you needing to chase after customers.

Currently, we are demonstrating some of the ways that you can increase your ranking results. We are doing so with ourselves as an example, aiming to get ourselves ranked for the 3 words: Marketing Castle Rock.

Again these words are relevant for us since we are a marketing company and since we wish to get in front of our local community’s businesses and online searchers, and being located in Castle Rock, well then our words are Marketing Castle Rock for the purpose of this articles series (posts).

If you review the article series, you will find a lot of insights and valuable points. You will also learn why our chosen words are possible not the best and why they will make it even more difficult for us to get the coveted page 1 result.

The entire series is an important series for you the business owner, who wish to get ranked for relevant keywords for your local marked, so that you can get right in front of the right buying customers.

Marketing Castle Rock Ranking Took A Step Back

Two Steps Forward One Step Back

I finished the day last night enjoying the fact that we had moved our ranking for our 3 chosen keywords – those being Marketing Castle Rock – up from a page 21 three days ago to a spot on page 2. If you followed along you will see that one of our efforts alone moved us quickly from page 6 to page 2. On page 2 we had the number 4 spot, so page number 1 seemed to be within near reach.

Checking in this morning and out spot had taken a step back for a poorer ranking. OK, it’s actually only one position, so it really isn’t a big deal, but yet psychologically, it’s a step back from the high emotion of success to a set back of a full one position (not bad).

That’s what often happens, in marketing just as we often experience in life.

What happened here is kind of funny, but it also illustrates a point.

The number 1 spot on the Google Search results for Marketing Castle Rock has since we started about 3 days ago been held by a website that actually is called castlerockmarketing.com

It’s kind of funny, for said company has nothing to do with traditional marketing as such, but actually seems to be primarily an auction house for Cattle. That’s right they ones that say muuh. I guess that’s what I get for living in the West out in rural Colorado in the town of Castle Rock.

Now, first off, it proves a point that is worth for you to notice and that is, if you can obtain an URL (i.e. a domain name) that actually entails your keywords, then your rate of success for ranking for same words shoots straight to the top – even without you doing much of anything. Also as I noticed in this case, throughout all my searches for the 3 words of Marketing Castle Rock, these cattle auction guys held the number 1 position, so your position, just due to the right URL, is stronger than most of other efforts you can make (at least for now that seems to be the case).

This is an important point that goes towards how you choose your domain name and it should give you plenty of reason to think about what URL you could think of that might help you in your business.

As I said, these guys have held the number 1 spot throughout and today they even took up the number 3 spot and if we don’t count the Google Local Places results also the number 6 spot. Why?

Why you might ask, did they all of a sudden take up these extra spots, earning them a full 3 important and valuable spots on a page 1 on Google for MY chosen keywords of Marketing Castle Rock?

Beats me.

But they apparently have a Facebook page and a Twitter account and these two popped up and made an appearance this morning for the number 3 and number 6 spot.

Again, the names they have for these two accounts includes the words Castle Rock and Marketing or at least mkgt as short for marketing. Which gets back to the point I made before on the importance that Google places on your URL or Name. For you this means, that you should not only secure adequate account names for your business on the social media. Account names that clearly reference your business name or your URL name.

From a point of view of search engine results, it means finding something that’s descriptive of what it is you offer.

If you are a plumber and you call your company ABC, then it probably won’t help you much in any search results for plumbing services on its own. But change your name that you reference your business to throughout to ABC Plumbing and that changes straight away. Get a Facebook Fanpage called something like facebook.com/abcplumbing and perhaps a twitter account called twitter.com/abcplumbing and you have secured some pretty good real estate.

Now if you don’t post to these accounts once in a while, it’s probably not going to do you much good, yet, in checking in on the facebook and twitter accounts of my cattle competition guys, I found that they posted last on June 2nd 2015 and October 10 2014 on their accounts respectively. In other words not very recently and not very actively, but this only underlines the point of the relative strength that Google do place on the social media account (connected as said to the names of same accounts in relation to what you wish to be found under in a Google Search).

One may wonder, why the respective facebook and twitter accounts didn’t appear in my earlier search results, and when you ask me, my answer would be: Beats me.

Google sometimes works in mysterious ways.

That’s alright too. If it was easy to circumvent everybody would do so, and we would be left with little relevancy to what we found when we performed searches, I suspect.

The changes in the search results on and off, also proves a point I have made previously in this Marketing Castle Rock saga, which is that the internet is a live place. You can do your part to rank well, but others out there are doing things and especially when they are doing things that are relevant for the keywords that you are hoping to get ranked for, it will change the search results too, possibly pushing you back again.

Said in another way, it isn’t a constant.

It also goes back to what I have also posted previously in this continuing story about the fact that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) work is not a one time thing. You don’t just do the work once and get the results and leave it at that. If you do, it’s only a matter of time and your ranking is gone. The more competition for your chosen words, the quicker your ranking will be gone.

No, you will have to have some continuous efforts, but as I have stated previously, it might just be very well worth it.

Well, we will make a few more efforts and see where we will get with our quest to reach a page 1 spot in Google Search results for the words Marketing Castle Rock.

Marketing Castle Rock Now We Are At Page 2

We Are Now On Page 2 For Marketing Castle Rock

I spent the afternoon on the playground with my two small kids and my wife. I think we ended up there for about small 3 hours. Whew! That’s a lot for me to cope with, but the kids had fun and that was the important bit.

Following the playground we did some grocery shopping and returned home for some light dinner.

Curious as I am, I couldn’t help myself for checking where we were at.

And where were we?

On Page 2 of Google’s search results for the 3 chosen keywords: Marketing Castle Rock.

Yes, this is yet another follow up on the Get Ranked For Marketing Castle Rock saga, the work of which I commenced about 3 days ago. 3 days ago I was at page 21 and now I am at page 2. Not bad for just a few days with some effort put in place. On top of that some very low key efforts. Nothing terribly fancy. Nothing that cost me any money, only a little time and of course the implementation of some very key things that I know works.

Here are the results for current listing (click image to be able to read it):

For this latter segment of you, I naturally offer my services to make things happen for you. Marketing Castle Rock Here We Come

Our Last Entry On Ranking For Marketing Castle Rock Moves Us To Page 6

In my previous post, that was post just about half an hour ago (depending on how fast I will type this entry here), I promised I would tell you about the utilization of “White Hat” tricks versus “Black Hat” tricks. However, I couldn’t help myself, but just ran another check to see how well we are doing for getting ranked under the keywords Marketing Castle Rock.

If you are following this series, which you can book mark from this link here: Marketing Castle Rock you will know that we set out just about 2 or 3 days ago to get ranked high with Google Search results under just the 3 words Marketing Castle Rock.

We started off on page 21 on Google and nobody goes that far into a search result really.

In my previous post from just this afternoon, we were at page 13, and now, our last entry titled When SEO Becomes A Game – Ranking For Marketing Castle Rock Continued less than an hour later and we have moved all the way to page 6!!!

Wait a little longer and I bet we are even further ahead by one or more pages.

Now, these results keep changing, so if you check in later, the results may be completely something else. That’s why your SEO work is never done and why you must keep at it.

However, it also proves that you can advance very rapidly.

Funny enough, a friend of mine saw my post yesterday and it incurred a conversation. She said to me, remember that “Google is slow”. I couldn’t agree more and I think my previous post’s placement proved that point entirely.

Anyway, here’s the result for now, still less than an hour after the previous post. Ranking us on page 6 for Marketing Castle Rock. (Click on image to be able to read the list)

Success With Ranking High For Marketing Castle Rock Just Ahead

When SEO Becomes A Game – Ranking For Marketing Castle Rock Continued

We continue our saga on how we are getting ranked high in Google’s search results for the keywords: Marketing Castle Rock.

To review what has been going on till date, please visit these two posts: www.amazingideasinc.com/marketing-castle-rock-time-to-take-my-own-medicine/ and http://www.amazingideasinc.com/quick-follow-up-on-marketing-castle-rock/

The two posts explain why I’m doing this and why it’s important. They also explain why my chosen keywords in fact are not the presenting the smartest choice and why I may in fact never get to a really good ranking for them either. Indeed, you may wish to review these posts just to see what you really shouldn’t do and instead to learn more about what you should do, so that you can get decent results.

Anyways, I just want to make this post short and just give you another update to our ranking.

When doing this kind of work, SEO, which stands for Search Engine Optimization, can actually become fun. It almost becomes a game. For you are doing small implementations of things, waiting a bit for the search engines to follow up with them crawling the sites and then you check in again to see if what you did carried any weight and made any positive changes for what you are tying to achieve.

My efforts and if you will experiment started a couple of days ago. I put out the public announcement that I wanted to pay attention to some of the local businesses in the area in which I live and my business is located, Castle Rock. I made it known that I would lie to help more local Castle Rock businesses with their marketing and help them implement the right strategies, tools and marketing systems that will grow their businesses, revenues and ultimately their profits.

The following day, I kind of realized that I haven’t made any efforts at all into making my services nor my company’s presence rank in any search engines. I help businesses with marketing and love to see the positive outcomes the come about from my help, but in my eagerness of helping other businesses, I had completely forgotten to implement similar strategies that I recommend any business to do for my own business. In other words, I was a bad example of what I tell others to do.

So the day before yesterday and yesterday, I implemented the first few steps. I instantly moved from page 21 to page 15 (as well as actually had an appearance on page 1 of Google, via my Google Local Places, which hadn’t appeared earlier). Last night a quick search and I had moved to Page 14 and this morning, for the keywords Marketing Castle Rock, I was at page 13. see images below for clarification. Ranking High For Keywords Marketing Castle Rock Screen Shot 2015-06-07 at 11.19.27 AM

Again, if you read my book: Mikkel Pitzner’s Trade Secrets To Marketing Your Business Online, you will know, that a page 13 ranking isn’t gonna get you anywhere. In truth you really need to get to page 1 of Google.

However, we are moving forward and steadily improving our ranking. We will do more steps and see where it will take us. So far we have only done some very small types of steps and they are completely real as opposed to mischievous tricks just to fool Google and other search engines. I don’t go for the so called “Black Hat” tricks. Yes, they may help you out, and yes you may even get to page 1. But in due time, Google will find the loophole that you used and if your material isn’t of relevance nor helping people, then in all likelihood you will lose your ranking and possibly even for good. It’s really just a matter of time.

Therefore, only employ real efforts that makes real sense and provides real value.

Here, I’m aiming to get my ranking up for 3 simple words, Marketing Castle Rock. Marketing for that’s why we do and those are the kind of services we provide, and Castle Rock for that’s the town we are in and while we would like to help people from anywhere really, it just makes sense to help some of the businesses from the local community. In addition, go back and review the previous two posts for they reveal to you, why a local business may provide you with more business and more revenues than others. Again the two previous posts are:
www.amazingideasinc.com/marketing-castle-rock-time-to-take-my-own-medicine/
and
http://www.amazingideasinc.com/quick-follow-up-on-marketing-castle-rock/

Now in closing out this post and going back to the title of When SEO Becomes A Game, well, then I cannot help but getting excited about seeing positive results come from the steps you implement in order to get the ranking and positioning better. It’s almost a game. You implement a few things. Then you wait a bit. Then you go and test to see if you got anywhere with your efforts. It’s actually kinda fun.

If you didn’t get anywhere, then you will have to revisit what you did or even better think about what would have a better outcome for you. Then you try that and see if you got it right this time around. And so on. And so on.

So onwards towards a superb ranking for the 3 chosen keywords: Marketing Castle Rock.

In the next upcoming post, I shall tell you a bit more about the utilization of “White Hat” tricks versus “Black Hat” tricks, so be sure to come back and revisit us. Making It Happen Getting Ranked For Marketing Castle Rock

Quick Follow Up On Marketing Castle Rock

What a difference a night can make. Had a good night’s sleep after having posted the post of yesterday titled: Marketing Castle Rock – Time To Take My Own Medicine.

If you didn’t read it, you can click the link to do so, but in a quick recap, I kind of realized that while I preach what others should do with their online marketing, is to set in motion processes that will make them and their businesses rank well in the search engines for relevant search terms, so that they will have customers come chase them instead of them having to chase customers, then I admittedly found, I wasn’t actually doing so for myself for the Castle Rock Marketing company of Amazing Ideas, Inc.

In other words, I wasn’t being a good example for myself or for the products and services that I sell via my marketing company.

So on to work.

I decided that I would ensure that my ranking with Google for the keywords: “Marketing Castle Rock” would be significant. In other words, I have now started to do the necessary work that I show my clients to do in their businesses (or rather that I will do for them) and I made the first part of the work yesterday evening.

If you review the Marketing Castle Rock – Time To Take My Own Medicine post of yesterday, you will learn that my very first work actually got me from Google’s page 21 to Google’s page 1 in a matter of about 3 hours. You will also, learn that the page 1 listing in fact was my Google Local Places position that popped up on page 1.

Now in truth, you cannot make this happen in 3 hours unless you already have registered your business with Google Local Places, for to do so, Google requires you to verify your local address via a couple of further steps such as via a postcard being sent to you. In other words that takes a few days to get activated and finalized. But in my case I had already done this registering part quite some time ago, but then I hadn’t done anything with it and that meant that I did not pop up anywhere in Google’s page 1 when you searched for Marketing Castle Rock.

Well, as mentioned I did a few things yesterday and that made all the difference. As mentioned, in about 3 hours and from the couple of steps I took, I achieved a Google Local Places position on Google’s page 1 for the keywords “Marketing Castle Rock”.

Here’s the after image when I got my Google Local Place’s listing for my Castle Rock located Marketing company: Amazing Ideas, Inc. (You will have to click the image in order for you to be able to read it):

Getting Ranked For Marketing Castle Rock

Screen Shot 2015-06-05 at 6.46.33 PM- Getting Ranked For Marketing Castle Rock

Again, if you read yesterday’s post Marketing Castle Rock – Time To Take My Own Medicine you will understand why popping up for a local search of relevant terms is critically important for your business and why a local search may have particular interest for you.

You will also see, why my 3 chosen keywords of Marketing Castle Rock, actually has set me up for quite a challenge, since the words are possibly a bit too generic and unspecific. If you make the search for yourself, you will see that the results that come up are for services, product and what not that are all over the place, many of which has little to do with marketing services like the ones I provide. Basically, it proves the point that when you go looking for keywords or for things you wish to rank for, specificity makes a lot of sense. What you really want to be looking for is that you (or rather your website) will pop up when people are searching for the types of products or services you offer specifically. Not only will this have a better chance of leading to sales, but from a user perspective, you will also become much more relevant.

Going back to a search of Marketing Castle Rock, if I was searching for someone to help me marketing my business well and I happened to be in Castle Rock and thus wanted a local company to help me out, well, then the keywords of Marketing Castle Rock might make perfect sense. However, as you can see from the results that are listed, they are all over the place and gives some but still little relevancy to my query. The reason for this is as I have indicated that my search terms are not specific enough.

To stress the point, make your keywords a bit more specific and you will also likely have a better result of how far up you will rank with the search engines. It will also make the search results more relevant and have a much improved chance of actually leading to business for your business. As I mentioned in yesterday’s post Marketing Castle Rock – Time To Take My Own Medicine you can make your keywords more specific by adding a few more descriptive words so that your search term becomes a bit more long tail. Just as an example, you could search Marketing Company Castle Rock.  Or perhaps Online Marketing Company Castle Rock. It narrows things down a bit and makes it a little more specific, but then it’s still very vague.

I just performed such a search and although my company would in fact be a very relevant result to come up, it didn’t do anything for me, meaning I didn’t pop up for the search in the results. The reason is that Google’s search is for the individual words (and again these are a bit too broad – meaning the word marketing probably pops up in way too many writings all over the place from websites and publications). Now if you wish to make your search even more specific, you can just add quotation marks. When I add quotation marks to “Marketing Castle Rock” I now appeared on page 3 of Google (at time of writing this) and when I searched “Marketing Company Castle Rock” I was on page 1. The trouble is, I rarely put quotation marks on my searches. Do You?

I suspect you rarely put quotation marks in your searches either. We are too quick online off to the next thing and don’t wish to waste time on technicalities (or we are too lazy..).

Well, back to the beginning of this post. The night was good to me. My rank results improved over the night while I was sleeping so that this morning when searching just Marketing Castle Rock, we are now on page 15 instead of page 21 of the Google search results. Still, nobody will go to page 15, so it’s of little use. But when it comes to search results and optimizing for these it’s not just a matter of throwing up a website and one little post and then miraculously you have arrived. No, it will take a bit more to get there. But is it worth it? You bet!

We will keep at it, and post you the results as we go along. Just remember and review the key lessons from yesterday’s post along with the key points from today’s post (below).

Anyways, I think it illustrates a few points:

1. When choosing your keywords, specificity matters

2. Long tail helps you

3. Both 1 and 2 makes you more relevant for those who are searching and there’s a better fit between you and the one who is searching

4. By all means do the work. It all improves your ranking.

Amazing Ideas Inc Marketing Castle Rock

Marketing Castle Rock – Time To Take My Own Medicine

I’m a little embarrassed to say this, but today I realized it was time for me to take my own medicine.

Lately, I have been so focused on getting other businesses results and helping them with their online web presence and what I call their online DNA. So focused in fact, that I completely forgot to take my own medicine and make it happen for myself.

My company, Amazing Ideas Inc., is a marketing company located in Castle Rock, Colorado. We specialize in online marketing and have a current focus for the local community’s businesses and a wish to help them rank better for relevant search terms for the local area.

Why? Cause it just makes sense.

Local searches typically hold the most promises for leads that are close to buying. Key phrase: Local.

If you are searching for a vendor or a service of some sort locally, then it’s more than likely because you actually have a need and are more than probably willing to actually buy now.

Looking for a plumber? Well, you probably have a plumbing issue that need tending to, right now.

So what do you do?

You Google for the nearest and best plumber in the area that can come and fix it.

In other words as I said, you are probably an eager buyer right now.

What does this mean for the local vendor?

Well, it is so much nicer to get leads in the door that are actually just about to pull the trigger and buy from you, rather than a browser, who is just kinda looking around a bit.

A local search for a local supplier of services, repairs or goods therefore holds good promise for the local vendor. That means, that as a local business you really should make sure that you hold a very sound focus on showing up in the Google searches (and in the other search engines) with a high ranking for the relevant keywords that are likely to be searched under relevant to what it is that you are selling.

Well, you get this already I’m sure.

But in my eagerness to serve others and to get results for other businesses, I just totally forgot to do this for myself, for my business.

So today, it dawned upon me. Since I’m selling (among other solutions) services that will get your business ranking high in the local searches on Google for relevant search terms for your business, well, then I had better show up early myself for something relevant to myself too.

Makes total sense, doesn’t it.

Ok, so first order of business in such regard is to Google yourself, Google for keywords that makes sense for your own business and own local area. In this case, Google myself.

OK, so far so good. Amazing Ideas, Inc. – what do we do? What are we?

Alright, we are a marketing company or a marketing consultancy or a marketing agency. OK, at least the keyword “marketing” should be important to us.

Second, where are we?

OK, we are in Castle Rock, Colorado.

In other words, “Marketing Castle Rock” might make up some of our keywords. We would like to be found under these keywords, so that when someone searches using these words, we will pop up.

Opening up for a Google search and I tap in “Marketing Castle Rock” (without quotation marks).

Guess what?

Nothing!!

Well, not quite true. I actually appeared but not until page 20. Ouch.

Now, how good is that for convincing other that I know something about what I’m selling?

Nobody looks all the way to page 20 of Google.

In fact by far the most clicks will happened among the first few listings on Google’s first page of the results for your relevant search.

Obviously, I need to do something about this and I had better do something about this now.

Off to work on this.

I made a couple of things and updated my website and made a couple of posts. Then I went for a run, came back took a shower and had a bite to eat and then returned to the desk top.

Excellent. Now at least I appeared on Google first page for these 3 keywords.

Still, it by far from good enough. I have a bit more work to do.

My first page listing now, was the Google Place listing (in which today I’m last).

Looking for the listing for my actual website for Amazing Ideas Inc. under these keywords and I now am all the way back at page 21.

Yup, actually pushed back one spot, but that’s also because I made sure that I now Google “incognito”. For the first search I forgot to log out of Google and search “incognito”. If I Google with Google knowing it’s me, it can affect the results to such an extend that my listings are favored, so that will skew the results and I will delude myself.

I want to appear on Google’s first page as if I was someone, who had no clue or premonition about Amazing Ideas Inc., but who was just looking for the types of services that I offer. Thus the need for searching “incognito”.

Now in truth, it would be a whole lot easier to get found with a better ranking for a longer keyword tail. E.g. it would be an easier task to get found on a better spot in Google results if I searched something longer like “Online Marketing Company Castle Rock Colorado”.

Why?

Because it becomes more specific and the chances are that it will match up better with the words you have on your website etc. Marketing is a very omnipresent word and there are marketing companies all over or other combinations in which marketing is a word, not even necessarily a descriptive for a company.

Castle Rock narrows it down, but what if there were several towns carrying the same name (lots of that around it seems, though perhaps not in case of Castle Rock)?

It will be a serious challenge to get placed on Google results page 1 for just the thre words: “Marketing Castle Rock”. But for sure I can get my listing much, much closer than that of page 21.

Well, as I told you, I did get to page 1 within a few hours, but we can do even better than that. It will just require a bit more work.

Let’s see where we can take it. Let’s see if indeed I can get myself on page one or at least onto the first couple of pages, just using the three keywords “Marketing Castle Rock”.

I will endeavor to make a few more things happen on my end to move up the ranks. The only 3 keywords we will be comparing will again be “Marketing Castle Rock”.

For sure I will rank better much sooner with longer tail keyword usage, but this will be a nice challenge and will serve a great purpose of showing you what can be done and perhaps convincing you, that if you are in more need of help getting your local business (not necessarily in Castle Rock) ranked well, that you might actually call upon my services. I would love to help you and get your business ranked well, so you too can have customers chasing you down in search of your products and services.

So here’s just a few takeaways:

  1. You definitely must show up in Google Results under relevant search terms
  2. You must strive to land on Google Result page 1 to have the best chance of people actually clicking on your link
  3. It’s easier to get ranked with more special and more long tail search terms
  4. You can move your ranking up, quickly if you implement the right things

And now: On to more work getting Amazing Ideas, Inc. ranked really, really well with Google Results for the 3 keywords: “Marketing Castle Rock” and only “Marketing Castle Rock”.

Local Marketing, advertising and website creation company in Castle Rock is helping other local Castle Rock businesses flourish online

Local Castle Rock marketing company is helping local Castle Rock businesses flourish online

Thankfully, the economy today is way better than what we saw in the aftermath of the last major financial crisis that set in especially in 2008, but every business is ever still facing challenges, competition and obstacles.

To help overcome some of the struggles, local Castle Rock marketing agency, Amazing Ideas Inc., is helping local businesses with their online marketing, so that they will appear in relevant searches and so that they stand a better chance of capturing the customers that actually are looking for them and their products and services.

Mikkel Pitzner at work at Amazing Ideas Inc “When you put in place the right online marketing so you show up in relevant searches online, you will see an increase of buying customers actually calling you or coming into your store. In other words, the customers are now chasing you instead of you chasing your customers”, says Mikkel Pitzner, CEO of Amazing Ideas, Inc.

With more customers coming in the door, your revenues grow and you will have less wasteful energy going towards chasing customers and less sleepless nights about how you will meet the next bills and other obligations you have.

A business that is thriving offers a better opportunity to focus on the important parts of delivering the right products, services and customer experience. A business that struggles is often too busy putting out fires, instead of focusing on elements that will improve how the customer sees the company and improve results.

“I have been there myself”, says Mikkel Pitzner, who has run a number of small and larger businesses spanning many varied industries. “I’ve had both successes and failures and I recall how it was when you were struggling in a business and you were just trying to keep afloat. In truth, you were so busy dealing with elements of crisis and trying to keep up with next bill coming in, that you just couldn’t seem to shake loose and actually get the business up and running on all cylinders.”

Every business is in need of some marketing. Rarely was there a product or a service that just sold all the time without someone making sure the world knew about it.

“You can have the best product or the best service in the world, but if no one knows about it, you are likely to end up broke”, says Mikkel Pitzner.

Having run several businesses, Mikkel Pitzner soon learned the need and importance of good marketing. In the first many years he did, what most business owners did; went out and hired a traditional marketing company to do his ads and other marketing for him.

However, the world has changed and continues to evolve. That means what used to work best, may in fact not be what works the best now.

So commencing especially in 2008 and ever since, Mikkel Pitzner has feverishly studied marketing and marketing tools and he has studied the best and with the best.

Especially, Mikkel Pitzner studied the area of online marketing. He states: “Although, I love a good print ad or an intelligent TV ad, I believe the online marketing is what holds the most promise for businesses, not least smaller businesses that have a limited budget.”

With the right elements in place and doing the right efforts a small business can actually get placed extremely well in the relevant searches online – and can do so, even within a doable budget.

That’s why, when Mikkel Pitzner set out establishing his marketing company, Amazing Ideas Inc., he decided the focus would be on online marketing.

“We can do other things too and of course we have our list of resources and experts in other marketing areas that we will call upon if necessary. But if your online marketing sucks or is seriously lacking, well, then you are likely to be throwing out a lot of money on any other area of marketing.

Why?

Because we all Google everything these days. If we get enticed by an ad, we invariably look up the product, service or company online. If we find nothing or if we don’t like what we find there, then there is no sale. We are validating our purchase before we purchase.

I often see a yellow page ad or other piece of advertising. Then I go and look up the advertisers online presence and see hugely lacking efforts. In my objective that means that that advertiser just completely wasted his or her marketing spend.”

Amazing Ideas, Inc. moved to Castle Rock last year as Mikkel Pitzner and his family moved to Castle Rock. Currently, Mikkel Pitzner and Amazing Ideas Inc., are focused on helping other local Castle Rock businesses get their online presence up to par, so that they will show up in relevant searches online, so that they will increase their revenues and bottom lines. They can help your business too. Perhaps it’s time you give them a ring.

Your Customers Are Looking For You

Your Customers Are Looking For You Online – Can They Find You?

Your Customers Are Looking For you Online – Can They Find You? So reads the tag line of one of my books, the book entitled: Mikkel Pitzner’s Trade Secrets For Marketing Your Business Online.

The book was written a few years ago and it was relevant then. But since the last major algorithm update from the biggest search engine Google, the tag line has become even more highly relevant for most businesses.

I have previously written on the subject of the algorithm update – the one that has also been nicknamed Mobilegeddon. With the algorithm update, Google now favors mobile-friendly websites over non-mobile-friendly websites and they do it in such a way that you non-mobile-friendly website quite simply won’t show up in relevant searches when the searches are carried out on mobile devices.

This is a big deal.

Yes, it’s a big deal, for upwards to 60% of all search traffic is done on a mobile device and when it comes to searches relevant to local searches, the number may been up to 80%.

In other words, if your website is not mobile-friendly, you may just have lost up to 80% of all your new traffic and thus upwards of 80% of all new potential customers.

That is definitely not only just likely to be felt at some time in your business – it will be felt! So, if you haven’t already sensed it in your business or felt a smaller number of calls coming in or seen a decline in new business, then it’s only a matter of time and you will suffer the consequences.

The fix is easy.

Yes, solving the problem is easy enough. All you need is for you to ensure that your website is changed to a mobile-friendly website.

A lot of websites today are already utilizing the popular WordPress platform (which I recommend), and if your website is one of these, then all you need to do, is to find a new theme – one that is mobile-friendly – and then update or change if you will that theme to a mobile responsive theme.

As you change the theme you may have to update certain functions and looks in order to ensure everything looks nice and neat after your theme update, but it’s relatively simple and you will quickly be on your way to gain Google’s liking again.

Indeed the fact that you can change out a look or a theme so easily is one of the major benefits to the WordPress platform and is one of the reasons I recommend the use of that platform over other solutions.

Alternatively, you can have a specific mobile website solution set up. Such a mobile website will be recognized by the mobile devices and you should thus be good to go, however the pain of this can be that you will have to remember going forward that you will need to keep two websites updated instead of just one.

There are more pros and cons to having a website specially dedicated for mobile devices and a website for the laptops and desktops, but these are beyond the scope of this article. Here, what is still the most important take away for you the reader is that you ensure your website is mobile-friendly, so that you will not be lost from the Google searches that are done on mobile devices.

If your current website is not on the WordPress platform, then whatever platform you are on, may have a solution for you with which you can convert your site to a mobile-friendly site. Alternatively, you really should consider converting over to the WordPress platform and then find a beautiful mobile responsive theme and have your website updated to that.

Again, the purpose of this article is not to promote the WordPress per se, but to hammer in the point of ensuring you are not losing out on important web searches.

So to underline the point again: Up to 80% of all online searches for local businesses are done on a mobile device. With its latest algorithm update at Google, non-mobile-friendly websites will not appear in the searches! I have already written two or three articles on the subject, but it seems the business owners are still not quite aware of what the algorithm change means for their businesses. Even among the Fortune 500 companies, an article run in TechCrunch stated that over 40% of their websites are still not Mobile-Friendly. I suspect the number for small business owners is even worse.

The importance as stated many times over is hugely important, so that’s why I’m repeating myself and posting more articles on the subject again and again. Forgive me for this, but business can be tough enough already and I believe far too many business owners are simply not aware of the changes nor what it means for their businesses. I’m hoping that my articles and posts may help some of them become aware so they can implement actions to correct their situation.

Basically it means:

No mobile-friendly website – no appearance!

Boom You Just Lost Nearly All Of Your Online Traffic

Boom!! You Just Lost Upwards To 80% Of All Your New Potential Customers

Incredibly, Most Businesses Are Still Slow To Amend Their Online Presence To Suit The Latest Important Algorithm Update From Google

On April 21 2015, the 800 pound gorilla of online searches, Google, changed once again their algorithm. This time the efforts of the algorithm change were directed towards giving users a better experience when searching on a mobile device.

More and more searches are carried out these days on mobile devices, so it only makes sense that Google would place some emphasis into making that experience better for people. Upwards of 60% of online searches are today done on a mobile device.

For local businesses the algorithm is possibly even more important. A Google search on mobile searches showed me reports stating numbers of upwards 80% of all searches for local businesses are done on a mobile device.

Again this makes a lot of sense. A lot of us look up things while on the go. More often than not, we look up the things on the go that we are interested right here, right now. In other words, we are “hot” buyers at that moment.

Perhaps we need to look up the nearest dry cleaner, find out what’s showing at the nearby cinema, look up a menu of a restaurant we are considering heading to, look up the opening hours of a certain store or perhaps even make an instant call to a vendor or service.

A lot of previous algorithm changes that we have seen from Google and that have been discussed heavily from time to time, seem to have been more directed at eliminating “holes” in the system that made way for “black hat” operators to optimize their sites for traffic.

In other words for the serious local business, these algorithm changes usually had little if any negative effect on the search results and ranking of ones business and thus most of us didn’t have to pay much attention to them.

No, it was mostly the marketers who had used certain ‘tricks’ to rank high, while in fact not really giving the visitor much value or relevance when they got there.

In other words, the ones who used to suffer from a Google algorithm update, typically were the black sheep. Most of us just try to run our businesses and run these with high integrity and no use of suspect “black hat” tricks up our sleeves, so we usually weren’t affected, but actually may even have gained better rankings while the tricksters lost theirs.

So all was good.

But this time it’s different.

Not that it’s bad, for in fact it’s actually really good.

You just have got to ensure that your website is mobile friendly and you are well on your way.

If your website is not mobile friendly, well, then you are not either making it a pleasant experience for a visitor to your site from a mobile device. And you do want to make it a pleasant experience for anyone coming to your place of business, right?

You would have thought a lot of businesses would have updated their sites up till the time the new Google algorithm came into place on April 21 2015, but an article on the subject actually, comparing with the status of websites two months prior, stated that only 4,7% more websites had done so.

Even today more than a month following the Google algorithm update and most businesses have still not made any changes.

What does that mean for you?

It means that you actually stand an even better chance of getting found IF you ensure that at least your website is mobile friendly. When the other businesses don’t wake up and get their act together, they are eliminated from the mobile searches and that reduces the competition, so now it’s actually easier for you to get some traction. Just be a little smart about it and you just might see yourself on the first page of Google when you search on a mobile device.

Again for local traffic it might just be about 80% of all the relevant searches.

Would you say that would be important?

I think we can all agree that’s pretty important.

If you need help, one of my companies, Amazing Ideas Inc., helps businesses get up to speed with their websites and turn them mobile-friendly so they have a fighting chance of getting found and get more new customers walking in their doors. In fact our service palette can get you onto the first page of Google and help you stay there. We would love to help you, so give us a call on 888-988-2489 and let’s talk.

Why Google's latest algorithm change is a blessing in disguise

Why Google’s Latest Algorithm Change Is A Great Blessing In Disguise

The latest algorithm change that Google rolled out April 21st this year could be a great opportunity and a blessing in disguise for a lot of businesses.

The algorithm, which has lovingly been nicknamed Mobilegeddon, now favors mobile-friendly websites for all searches carried out on mobile devices. The change only affects search results done on mobile devices and therefore you won’t find any changes affecting your searches done on your laptop or desktop.

But seeing that more than 60% of all searches these days are done on a mobile device the algorithm change is to be considered extremely important. In the extreme version, if your website is not mobile friendly, then you may just have lost 60% of all your online traffic (60% of all your new potential customers has just been eliminated from your business).

If your website is not mobile-friendly and you still have not noticed any changes in your inbound calls and connections from new potential customers, then it might just be a matter of time before you will. Google specifically has stated that crawling and re-indexing the websites may take a little time, but the effect will take place.

There’s a great post by Google that offers you more insights to the algorithm changes that I highly recommend you check out. You can find it here: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2015/04/faqs-april-21st-mobile-friendly.html

So why could this algorithm change potentially be a blessing in disguise for your business?

Well, although there’s been a lot of commotion for the past few years about recommendations for websites to be mobile friendly, there are still a huge amount of the websites out there that are not in fact mobile-friendly. In addition, an incredible number of businesses are still not paying attention to the algorithm change that now is a fact. In truth, I believe, it’s a bit of the Peter And The Wolf syndrome that is the cause of this.

For months if not years, we have probably all received a ton of uninvited spam emails in our inboxes that offers us website designs, improved traffic to our websites, SEO solutions and much more. We all hate the spam and yet they continue endlessly. I guess, it’s a numbers game and that whoever sends them out actually do pick up a little business here and there.

But I suspect most of us just discard them, delete them and move out. And rightly so. However, this time the urgency may be well worth your attention. Perhaps not by giving the spammers your business (I personally don’t wish to support any spammers, regardless of how great their offer sounds), but by finding a company that you would trust to handle your online business.

Just Google “Google April 21” and skim some of the articles and posts. Look at especially the posts from Google themselves to see that this is not just some scheme in order to sell new web designs or new solutions you don’t need.

No, the algorithm change is real and it already has been implemented.

I have written previously that the changes in the Google algorithm make perfect sense and really actually helps us all to a better search experience on our mobile device.

Personally, I don’t really love to look up stuff on my smart phone, but invariably I need to find some piece of information while on the go and will of course pull out my phone and tap in the key words. In fact, just like most of people, I guess I’m doing it more and more (even without really thinking about it).

The experience on the mobile device has up till now been less than sublime. How often have you not looked up a site on your smart phone only to find that it appeared as a regular website entirely, which requires of you to zoom in and out and pan around for you to actually read the content or find the information you are looking for seeing that you are looking at it from a very small screen?

We have all been there. Sucks doesn’t it.

No, a mobile-friendly website will make things very easily read on even your small smart phone screen and will offer you ease of navigation. Typically when on the go, you are just looking for some quick facts so you can move on (e.g. a phone, number, an address or a quick insight to the business or such).

When most of all web searches have moved to the mobile devices then Google must implement changes to improve user experiences and that’s exactly what their latest algorithm change is doing.

But when a huge amount of businesses are still not waking up to the fact of the algorithm change and to the fact that they really stand to lose a lot of new business if they don’t ensure that their websites are mobile-friendly, then it opens up for much greater opportunities to the businesses that do. In fact, it may actually offer a head start to small businesses with smaller budgets to improve their Google search rankings, when most resource rich businesses or your nearest competitors are still asleep at the wheel.

In other words, since a lot of businesses are not paying attention, it might actually be a lot easier to get good ranking for those who are paying attention as the competition now is lessened. You may not have this great of a chance to get found for the keywords that make sense for your business for ever though. At some point I suspect that all websites (or at least most) will have been converted to mobile-friendly sites, but for now, there’s a window open and it makes great sense to make use of it.

One of my companies, Amazing Ideas Inc., helps businesses get up to speed with their websites and turn them mobile-friendly so they have a fighting chance of getting found and get more new customers walking in their doors. If you would like to discuss how we can help your website conform to a mobile-friendly and ranking website, we will be happy to spend some time with you. Just go to www.amazingideasinc.com and reach out to us.

For sure, if you do not make use of us at Amazing Ideas Inc., then we would still highly recommend that you get your website in order for you to show up in the Google searches, including the 60% or so that are done on mobile devices. Not ensuring that your website is mobile-friendly is about the biggest mistake you can make these days online. It’s an easy fix (relatively speaking) and your investment in doing so will surely be showing a great return quickly by the extra new business you will be picking up.

Make the most of Google's latest algorithm update Mobilegeddon

Successful International Entrepreneur Warns Business Owners Of Ignorance of Google’s Latest Algorithm Update

Castle Rock, CO. – May 6, 2015 – Successful international serial entrepreneur, Mikkel Pitzner, warns business owners of ignoring the latest algorithm update from Google. The algorithm in concern was implemented on April 21st this year by Google and has been nicknamed by many as “Mobilegeddon”.

With the new algorithm Google will now favor mobile-friendly website when searches are performed on mobile devices. The move has been implemented by Google to optimize user experience and makes perfect sense according to Mikkel Pitzner, who welcomes the change.

“The non-mobile friendly websites always presented a horrible experience when you looked them up on say a smartphone. You would have to constantly zoom in and out and pan around. With a mobile-friendly website the experience is altogether different and also gives you a faster result for what it is you wish to accomplish with your search,” says Mikkel Pitzner about the new algorithm choice.

But he also warns business owners to pay attention to this change for it means that if their websites are not mobile-friendly, then their sites will just not appear in searches on mobile devices. It is relevant to note that more than 60% of all searches today are performed on mobile devices. “That means, you are basically cutting yourself off from more than half of all potential visitors to your website, your products and services. That’s just really bad for business”, continued Mikkel Pitzner.

Mikkel Pitzner has just published an article concerning this matter, which can be found at http://www.amazingideasinc.com/articles

New Resource For Website Building

A New Source Of Learning How To Create Professional Websites Is Revealed

Castle Rock, CO. – May 1, 2015 – A new source for learning how to create professional websites recently has been launched to help multiple small businesses with their increasingly important web presence. The resource is coming from Website Creation Mastery and serial entrepreneur Mikkel Pitzner.

Mikkel Pitzner endeavors in many different and often unrelated businesses, but the Website Creation Mastery is a new type of activity for him. “I have been doing all sorts of business over quite a lot of decades now and common for all of them is the need for effective marketing and presentation – the online presence of a business is one of the most important and key elements of that equation”, says Mikkel Pitzner about Website Creation Mastery.

Following the huge set back of the financial crises of 2008, Mikkel Pitzner had to find ways of recreating avenues for making things happen and website creation was one of them. Indeed, his skills for marketing, market research and website creation helped him in establishing a sound avenue for creating results not just for himself, but also for his clients that he is serving via his marketing agency, Amazing Ideas Inc.

A new algorithm Google just implemented April 21st this year stresses even further the importance for businesses to revisit their web presence. The new algorithm – which has been nick named by many as Mobilegeddon – favors websites that are mobile-friendly and will thus “penalize” websites that are not.

More and more searches online today are carried out on mobile devices so the move from Google makes perfect sense. Yet, many business owners today still do not comprehend the importance of this and how it will affect their future business. Indeed, most websites today are still not mobile friendly, and their ranking in search engines will deteriorate causing less potential new customers to show up, causing decreasing revenues and decreasing profits.

“We are currently helping many businesses with updating their web presence to secure their high Goggle ranking spots. The investment in doing so is small and soon recouped by the extra customers the businesses will gain, but there are those who are on a smaller budget and who wish for doing things themselves. For them we have created the Website Creation Mastery course, so they can learn how to create their websites themselves”.

Website Creation Mastery is even offering a Free Fast Track Video Training Series to help as many people get started. This free training is available at: http://bit.ly/1DHqHcY
